The Tejashwi Yadav absence during the winter session of the Bihar Assembly has created a major political controversy. The session lasted five days, but the Leader of the Opposition was seen only on the first day. Soon after, news spread that he had left for Europe. This Tejashwi Yadav absence immediately triggered criticism and raised questions about his commitment.

Ram Kripal Yadav strongly attacked Tejashwi. He said that the public may not trust him again as the Leader of the Opposition. He also accused Tejashwi of insulting democracy by ignoring his responsibility.

Speaking to reporters, Ram Kripal Yadav said that this is the first time an Opposition leader skipped an important session. He added that people of Bihar are watching his actions closely. On the first day, Tejashwi had hugged and congratulated Ram Kripal Yadav, but the situation changed quickly after his sudden trip.

AIMIM MLA Akhtarul Iman also criticised the move. He said that the opposition already has few members, and losing its leader during the session sends a wrong message. JDU’s Neeraj Kumar questioned why Tejashwi chose to travel when his father is unwell at home.

The RJD has chosen Tejashwi Yadav elected as RJD legislative leader after its first major review meeting in Bihar. The decision came soon after the party’s heavy defeat in the Assembly elections. In the opening address, senior leaders discussed how Tejashwi Yadav elected as RJD legislative leader will help rebuild the organisation and strengthen the Opposition inside the Assembly.

The meeting saw the presence of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Misa Bharti. Many MLAs and defeated candidates attended and shared their views. Some raised concerns about EVM hacking. Several leaders said the Grand Alliance was active on the ground, but the NDA was rarely seen.

Tejashwi secured the position of Leader of the Opposition because the RJD won 25 seats. A minimum of 24 seats (10% of the Assembly) is needed for the Opposition leader post. If RJD had won only 23 seats, the party would have lost this crucial role.

The review also highlighted the Grand Alliance’s poor performance. Out of 35 total seats, RJD won 25, Congress 6, CPI (ML) 2, IIP 1, and CPI (M) 1. Mukesh Sahni’s VIP could not win a single seat.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the passing of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga on Wednesday. Odinga died at the age of 80 in Koothattukulam, Kerala, following a heart attack during his morning walk. PM Modi called him a “cherished friend of India” and recalled their association since his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister.

Odinga had arrived in Kerala six days ago for Ayurvedic treatment. He collapsed around 6:30 a.m. and was rushed to Sreedhareeyam Ayurvedic Eye Hospital but could not be revived. His body is kept at Deva Matha Hospital, Koothattukulam, pending repatriation.

A towering figure in Kenyan politics for over four decades, Odinga served as Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013. He played a key role in national reconciliation after post-election violence and was a long-time opposition leader heading the Orange Democratic Movement.

PM Modi noted Odinga’s admiration for Indian culture, Ayurveda, and efforts to strengthen India-Kenya ties. Kenyan embassy officials in New Delhi are coordinating with Kerala authorities for the body’s repatriation. Local leaders and the Kenyan diaspora expressed shock and grief, while a formal statement from the Kenyan government is awaited.

Former minister Perni Nani has questioned why the Andhra Pradesh government is hesitant to grant YS Jagan Mohan Reddy the official opposition leader status. Speaking at a large YSRCP meeting in Tadepalli, Nani said that Jagan deserves the recognition because he has the capability to respond to any question in the Assembly.

He emphasized that the denial of opposition leader status forced Jagan to approach the court for justice. “If he can answer questions effectively, he deserves the position of opposition leader. Give it to him. It is the government’s reluctance that compelled him to seek legal recourse,” Nani stated.

The meeting in Tadepalli, chaired by Jagan, brought together party leaders and workers to discuss organizational strategies, highlighting the party’s demand for legitimate recognition in the Assembly.

Uncertainty looms over whether YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy will attend the Andhra Pradesh Assembly sessions beginning today. Reports suggest that Jagan has instructed his party MLAs not to attend the proceedings, leaving speculation that only YSRCP MLCs may represent the party in the House.

The suspense arises as Jagan continues to demand official recognition as the Leader of Opposition , a request the ruling coalition has firmly rejected, citing lack of eligibility. This standoff has intensified the political tension between the government and the opposition.

According to sources, Jagan is adopting a wait-and-watch approach , possibly to send a strong political signal while keeping his party members aligned with his strategy.

A final decision on his participation is still awaited, and clarity is expected within hours, as the Assembly session gets underway.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is regarded as one of India’s most visionary political leaders, known for his strategic thinking and long-standing influence. Widely recognized within the NDA and globally, he has built a reputation for foresight and development-driven politics that shaped the Telugu states.

Naidu began his political career early, becoming a minister at just 28. In 1995, he was sworn in as Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh, marking the start of a three-decade-long leadership journey. Across 30 years, he has served four terms as CM and at other times as Leader of the Opposition, remaining a central figure in state politics.

His greatest contribution lies in changing the political agenda to focus on development. Introducing the IT industry to Hyderabad years ahead of others, he envisioned economic growth through technology and governance reforms. Despite criticism and mockery, he pushed forward, making “development” the centerpiece of his political strategy.

Even setbacks did not weaken him. After the 2019 defeat, he bounced back with renewed energy, continuing his commitment to welfare and growth. Today, Naidu stands as a role model—his career demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and the importance of visionary leadership in politics.
