BJP State President Ramchander Rao comments on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process and said it is a legal exercise started by the Election Commission of India. He clarified that the Centre and the BJP have no role in conducting the process.

Speaking to the media, Ramchander Rao said similar voter verification drives had taken place many times in the past. He welcomed the decision of political parties to appoint booth agents and cooperate with the exercise. He also said the Supreme Court had already recognized the SIR process as a constitutional procedure.

BJP State President Ramchander Rao comments also targeted Congress, BRS, and AIMIM leaders. He urged them not to create politics around the voter verification process. He claimed that illegal immigrants should not be included in electoral rolls and said the BJP would closely monitor the issue.

Rao also criticized the Telangana government over paddy procurement. He alleged that farmers were facing difficulties due to a shortage of gunny bags and delays at procurement centers.

The Rabi grain procurement record in Telangana has brought a major financial boost to farmers this season. The state government purchased a huge quantity of paddy and other grains, creating a new milestone in agricultural procurement.

Officials say the Rabi grain procurement record reflects a bumper harvest and strong government support for farmers. Thousands of procurement centres operated across districts to ensure farmers could sell their produce quickly and receive payments without delay.

The government opened several grain purchase centres during the season to handle massive crop arrivals. Officials also arranged transport and storage facilities and ensured a smooth payment system so farmers faced fewer problems while selling their produce.

With record procurement and timely payments, farmers received a large inflow of cash into their bank accounts. The initiative aims to protect farmers from distress sales and guarantee them fair prices through the Minimum Support Price (MSP) system.

Authorities say the record procurement highlights the state’s strong agricultural output and growing support systems for farmers.

They blamed officials for the recent floods and accused them of ignoring farmers’ suffering. The protesters said the floods happened because authorities filled dams too early and later released excess water during rains. This mistake flooded nearly five lakh acres and destroyed crops, houses, and roads.

Farmers also opposed the delay in paddy procurement. They said slow government buying forced them to sell crops cheaply to private traders. At Mansa, BKU (Ugrahan) leader Shingara Singh Mann demanded Rs 200 per quintal or Rs 7,000 per acre to manage stubble. In Muktsar, farmers sought Rs 25,000 crore as flood relief, Rs 70,000 per acre for damaged crops, and Rs 25 lakh for families of victims. They also demanded the withdrawal of FIRs filed for stubble burning. The Punjab farmers protest reflected their anger and need for quick help.

Rice millers in the erstwhile districts of Telangana have failed to return procured paddy or pay dues to the government. Officials issued notices, but millers have not responded. Despite vigilance reports, grain stocks were neither returned nor accounted for. Public representatives are reportedly shielding the millers, allowing defaults to continue unchecked.

Every season, paddy purchased from farmers is allocated to millers under custom milling norms. However, for the 2022–23 season, several millers failed to deliver rice to the Food Corporation of India. Around ₹230 crore worth of grain remains pending with millers in the region. Instead of supplying rice, some diverted it to the open market.

Civil Supplies and Vigilance departments carried out inspections and issued multiple notices. Based on enforcement reports, the government floated tenders and directed millers to hand over stocks to contractors. Yet most millers refused to comply. Nearly 30 mills now face criminal cases, while 70 others still owe large payments.
