The Panchayat Block Teacher Recruitment Verdict relates to the 2006–2008 recruitment process for Panchayat and block-level teachers. Some candidates who were on old selection lists later received appointments when vacancies appeared in 2012. The state government later challenged those appointments and cancelled them.

A division bench of the Patna High Court dismissed several appeals filed by affected candidates. The court supported the state government’s decision and said the recruitment process had already ended in 2010.

The judges also stated that a merit list cannot remain valid indefinitely like a reserve panel. Vacancies that arise later must follow a fresh recruitment process.

The court further noted that some petitioners filed appeals after delays of six to eight years, which weakened their claims.
