Congress MLA Pargat Singh strongly criticised the ongoing CM–SGPC row and urged the Punjab government to avoid interference in religious affairs. He said the controversy had no link to sacrilege and accused the state leadership of diverting attention from real issues.

Referring to the Pargat Singh Targets CM–SGPC Row remarks, he said true sacrilege cases occurred in Bargari and Behbal Kalan. He alleged that despite claims of approving prosecution against Dera Sacha Sauda, the government failed to act decisively. He warned that politicising internal Sikh institutions harms society and the nation.

Pargat Singh also questioned recent changes in the MGNREGA framework. He challenged the Centre’s decision to raise the employment guarantee to 125 days. He said earlier governments could not ensure even 50 days of work out of the promised 100 days.

Highlighting Punjab’s record, he claimed the state provided an average of only 38 days of employment over the past three years, with just 26 days so far this year. He added that Punjab’s financial burden under MGNREGA could rise sharply if the trend continues.

Taking aim at the AAP government’s anti-drug campaign, Pargat Singh asked why a second phase was needed if the first had succeeded. He said sincere reforms need political will, not repeated announcements.

Bollywood actress and Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut apologised to elderly farmer Mahinder Kaur in the Kangana Ranaut Rs 100 protester case. The Bathinda court granted her bail in a defamation case filed by the 82-year-old woman over a remark made during the 2020–21 farmers’ protest.

Kangana told reporters that the controversy was a misunderstanding. She said she had only retweeted a meme and never intended to insult anyone. Kangana added that she had already spoken to Mahinder Kaur’s husband and apologised. She said, “Whether a mother is from Himachal or Punjab, she is respectable to me.”

However, Mahinder Kaur’s lawyer, Raghbir Singh Behniwal, denied that Kangana had apologised earlier. The court transferred the case to a special magistrate, fixing the next hearing for November 24.

The case began after Kangana mistakenly shared Mahinder Kaur’s photo, confusing her with protester Bilkis Bano, and wrote that such women were “available for Rs 100” to attend protests. The remark drew huge backlash across Punjab.

Security was tight during Kangana’s visit. Leaders like Harsimrat Kaur Badal praised Mahinder Kaur for defending Punjab’s dignity and setting an example of courage.

Pargat Singh, MLA and secretary of the All India Congress Committee, has strongly questioned the AAP government’s tall claims of an education revolution in Punjab. He pointed out that the infrastructure in government colleges and universities is collapsing and warned that this negligence could lead to a major tragedy.

Singh said the situation exposes the gap between promises and ground reality. He stressed that the so-called education revolution in Punjab is just a slogan, as students and teachers continue to suffer due to poor facilities.

The Congress leader also issued a stern warning to the government. If any tragedy occurs because of weak buildings or unsafe campuses, he said, the responsibility will lie directly with Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his administration.

His statement has sparked fresh debate on the quality of education and the urgent need for real reforms in Punjab’s education system.

He stood with 1,158 Assistant Professors and Librarians, calling them the backbone of Punjab’s higher education.

Singh admitted he was responsible for the recruitment process. The selection, held after 25 years, was transparent and based on merit. He asked why professors should suffer for political apathy.

The Supreme Court had quashed their appointments in July last year. This decision created unrest and risked disruption in state colleges. Singh said the demands of educators were simple — legal support, a review petition in the SC, and an ordinance if needed.

He urged CM Bhagwant Singh Mann to meet the professors directly. “A government that disrespects teachers disrespects Punjab’s future,” Singh warned. He also promised to raise the issue strongly in the Vidhan Sabha.

The Congress leader assured that his party would back the educators. He said they deserve justice, dignity, and their rightful place in classrooms.

The contest for Punjab Congress district presidents has sparked intense lobbying. This comes just days after the party high command asked leaders to end internal fights.

Under the new “Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan,” 29 observers, including MPs and ex-ministers, are gathering feedback from workers. They must keep OBC, minority, and regional factors in mind while shortlisting three to four names per district.

Factionalism remains strong. State chief Amrinder Raja Warring and Opposition leader Partap Singh Bajwa are promoting their supporters. Former CM Charanjit Channi, Rana Gurjeet Singh, Pargat Singh, and Khushaldeep Dhillon are also backing their own men.

In Ludhiana, Warring’s clash with former working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu could heat up the battle. Muktsar, Warring’s home turf, looks easier for him. In Jalandhar Rural, Shahkot MLA Hardev Laddi Sherowalia has staked his claim, while Bajwa is supporting Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary.

Kapurthala sees divided opinions. MLAs Sukhpal Khaira and Balwinder Dhaliwal want ex-MLA Navtej Cheema, but Rana Gurjeet has not shown his hand. In Hoshiarpur, Daljit Gilzan and Vishwanath Bunty are in the race.

The trafficking of Punjab youths trapped in Russia has caused fear and anger among families. Parents accuse the Centre and state governments of ignoring travel agents who push their children into the “death zone.” The key phrase Punjab youths trapped in Russia reflects the pain repeated by families demanding action.

Since June, at least 15 youths from Punjab were lured with fake job offers and sent to Russia. There, they were forced into the army. Two youths from Haryana shared a distress video from Ukraine, saying they too had been recruited by Russian forces. Despite India’s appeals, Moscow has not stopped recruiting Indians.

In Jalandhar, Jagdeep Kumar said five recruits died and three went missing. Families in Malerkotla and Amritsar also reported deaths and disappearances. Many accuse travel agents of stealing compensation meant for victims.

Congress MLA Pargat Singh called the crisis a “systemic failure.” He criticized Punjab Police for failing to act and urged the Ministry of External Affairs to take stronger steps. He demanded direct talks with Russia, strict action against traffickers, and quick compensation. Families of Punjab youths trapped in Russia want justice and the safe return of their children.

The Congress party has slammed the Punjab government’s decision to give Rs 20,000 per acre as flood relief, calling it too little compared to farmers’ actual losses. Leaders said the AAP government ignored input costs and livestock deaths that added to the crisis.

State Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said farmers have suffered long-term damage as both crops and soil were destroyed. He warned that without quick payments, the relief could become “another hoax.” He added that losses stand at about Rs 50,000 per acre, and damp soil will prevent wheat sowing for months. Farmers will also need more fertilisers to restore productivity.

Warring further accused the government of ignoring livestock losses worth lakhs. Opposition leader Partap Singh Bajwa rejected the AAP claim of granting the “highest-ever” relief, calling it false.

AICC Secretary Pargat Singh described the announced aid as “a drop in the ocean.” He demanded Rs 50,000 per acre for crops, Rs 1 lakh per acre for sugarcane, and a three-month waiver of VAT on diesel. He also criticised the Rs 4 lakh relief for families of flood victims as inadequate.

Speaking at the Samvidhan Bachao rally in Jalandhar, he said the Punjab Congress remains united and that the high command will decide the CM face for the 2027 elections.

Warring shared the stage with senior leaders Charanjit Singh Channi, Partap Singh Bajwa, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and Pargat Singh. Their presence highlighted party unity and strength against rivals.

Targeting the AAP government, the Punjab Congress chief alleged that the recent floods were a man-made disaster. He said the state failed to release water from dams on time despite rain warnings. He also blamed the Centre for ignoring preventive measures, adding that both AAP and BJP betrayed Punjab.

Pargat Singh called the flood crisis part of a “political conspiracy,” while Channi accused AAP of record-level corruption.

Earlier, Warring visited Pargat Singh’s residence, signaling peace after reports of differences. He later posted that both leaders are focused on strengthening Congress at the grassroots.
