Congress MLA Jakir Hussain Sikdar argued that the committee’s findings lacked evidence, highlighting that CCTV footage from the corridor where the alleged incident occurred had not been shared with the opposition. “We do not accept this report. Huda did nothing wrong and was only protesting with other MLAs,” Sikdar stated.

Speaker Biswajit Daimary emphasised that the Privilege Committee had completed its investigation and submitted its findings, which the House was obliged to adopt. According to the ruling alliance, Huda physically confronted Momin during a protest in March, an allegation denied by both Huda and the Congress. Sherman Ali Ahmed had allegedly used unparliamentary language during Assembly proceedings the same month, which was later expunged from records.

The suspension highlights ongoing tensions between treasury and opposition benches in Assam, reflecting persistent friction over parliamentary conduct and decorum. The five-day winter session, which began on Tuesday, is scheduled to conclude on Saturday.
