BJP will make Punjab a leading state under PM Modi, said Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while addressing a public gathering in Ghanaur, Patiala district. BJP will make Punjab a leading state under PM Modi once the party forms the government in the 2027 Assembly elections, he asserted.

Addressing people at the grain market, Saini accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of betraying public trust. He said Punjab continues to face drug abuse, unemployment, and corruption due to failed governance and broken promises.

Saini said the BJP would replicate Haryana’s development model in Punjab. He highlighted welfare schemes such as subsidised LPG cylinders, old-age pensions, crop compensation, and the Chirayu health scheme. According to him, these initiatives have improved lives across Haryana.

Criticising AAP, he said promises of a drug-free Punjab, women’s allowances, and pensions remain unfulfilled. He claimed the government lacks accountability and shuts down after office hours, leaving people helpless.

He further said the BJP focuses on farmers, education, and healthcare. Crop compensation and health schemes, he added, work efficiently under BJP rule.

Concluding his address, Saini alleged rising corruption in Punjab. He promised that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Punjab would emerge as a top-performing state.

Former Minister Aseem Goel, former MP Preneet Kaur, and senior BJP leaders were also present.

His condition remains critical, according to hospital sources.

Police recovered a 12-page suicide note from the house. Chahal reportedly mentioned heavy financial distress in the note. He claimed losses due to an online fraud pushed him into depression. Investigators have started verifying these claims. Officers are examining digital and financial records.

Patiala Senior Superintendent of Police Varun Sharma said police teams reached the spot immediately. They secured the residence and collected evidence.
Chahal previously served as a senior officer in the Punjab Police. He was also an accused in the 2015 Faridkot firing case. In February 2023, a Special Investigation Team filed a chargesheet against him. The case also named several political leaders and officials.

Former Inspector Suba Singh (82), convicted in the Tarn Taran fake encounter case, passed away at Rajindra Hospital in Patiala on Wednesday. He was critically injured in a jail attack on September 11 inside Patiala Central Jail. Suba Singh, along with former DSP Gurbachan Singh and inmate Inderjit Singh, was attacked by fellow prisoner Sandeep Singh, alias Sunny, a suspect in the 2022 murder of Hindu leader Sudhir Suri. Sunny reportedly used sharpened spoons to strike the victims on the head and face.

Gurbachan and Inderjit survived with medical attention. However, Suba Singh’s condition worsened, and despite surgery and ventilator support, he succumbed to his injuries. Suba Singh and his co-accused had been sentenced to life imprisonment in August for a 1993 fake encounter in which seven people died. Authorities are now adding murder charges against Sunny.

SGPC president Harjinder Singh Dhami raised concerns over Sunny’s treatment. He alleged that jail authorities subjected Sunny to custodial violence and denied him family access. Dhami also accused officials of ignoring a court order for a medical examination before transferring Sunny to Sangrur Jail. This controversy highlights ongoing issues regarding inmate safety and custodial practices in Punjab’s prisons.
