The Digha STP, the state’s largest, has a capacity of 100 MLD. It already treats 25 MLD, and the number will reach 55 MLD by the end of December. The Kankarbagh STP has a capacity of 50 MLD and now treats 20 MLD.

Five STPs were opened earlier this year, including Digha and Kankarbagh. Three more STPs at Mokama, Fatuha, and Bakhtiyarpur are in trial runs and will start full operations by March.

With these plants running, Patna now treats 196 MLD sewage. By December, this will reach 226 MLD. Experts say Ganga and Punpun pollution will fall sharply.

By next year, Digha and Kankarbagh STPs will also produce 4.5 MW electricity, helping them run on their own power.
