The latest is Bandi Prakash alias Prabhat, a top Maoist leader from Telangana, who surrendered before DGP Shivadhar Reddy on Tuesday.

Prakash, a native of Mandamarri in Mancherial district, played a key role in Maoist activities for over four decades. He began his journey in the early 1980s during the “Go to the Villages” movement. Later, he became the president of the Singareni Workers’ Union, which operated under the Maoist wing.

Over the years, Prakash organized several campaigns in the National Park area and remained active in the CPI-Maoist party for nearly 45 years. His leadership influenced multiple generations of activists across Telangana and neighboring states.

Officials said his surrender marks a major success for the Telangana Police’s efforts to encourage Maoist cadre to surrender. His move is expected to inspire other members to give up arms and join peaceful, lawful life.

In a major success for Chhattisgarh’s anti-insurgency operations, 27 active Maoists surrendered before security forces in Sukma district on Wednesday. Among them were two senior cadres from the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) Battalion-01, a key unit of the CPI (Maoist). Officials said both had long evaded arrest and carried high cash rewards.

Authorities confirmed the total bounty value of the surrendered group was ₹50 lakh. The group included 10 women and 17 men. One Maoist had a reward of ₹10 lakh, while others carried bounties ranging from ₹1 lakh to ₹9 lakh. Most of them were involved in providing logistical support and local mobilisation in the Bastar region.

Police officials attributed the development to the success of the Chhattisgarh Navsankalp Surrender Policy and Niyat Nella Nar scheme. They said continuous security operations and rehabilitation measures encouraged many to give up arms and join mainstream society.

Officials expect the mass surrender to weaken the Maoist network in southern Chhattisgarh. The government plans to rehabilitate the surrendered cadres through financial aid and vocational training. The district administration called the event a “turning point” in the fight against extremism and a “victory for dialogue over destruction.”

President Donald Trump claimed he helped end “seven wars” during the first months of his second presidency. He specifically mentioned the Russia-Ukraine war, saying it became more difficult than he initially expected. Trump explained that he thought his relationship with Presidents Putin and Zelensky would make resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict easier, but it turned out to be the most challenging.

Trump also claimed responsibility for ending several other conflicts, including the India-Pakistan, Thailand-Cambodia, Democratic Republic of Congo-Rwanda, Kosovo-Serbia, Armenia-Azerbaijan, and Israel-Iran disputes. He stated that his administration played a key role in brokering peace deals. However, many of these claims have been questioned. India denied that the US played any part in the India-Pakistan ceasefire. Experts also criticized Trump’s claims regarding Rwanda and Congo, saying the peace agreement ignored key political and historical issues.

Despite the skepticism, Trump remains confident about his involvement in easing tensions and pushing for peace in these global conflicts.
