]]> RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav reached Gaya with his wife Rabri Devi and son Tejashwi Yadav. The family performed pind daan rituals for their ancestors. Lalu, seated in a wheelchair, joined thousands of devotees during the sacred Pitru Paksha Mela.

The rituals took place at Dhupchatti near Sabha Mandap. Offerings were made at Vishnupad temple, Phalgu River, and the holy Akshayavat tree. Rabri Devi and Tejashwi Yadav also took part in the prayers. Security was tightened for the family’s visit.

The Pitru Paksha Mela in Gaya lasts for 15 days. Lakhs of devotees from across India and abroad attend this festival. People believe that pind daan here grants salvation and helps ancestors attain moksha.

This year the mela will continue until September 21. Many leaders and well-known personalities are expected to arrive in Gaya. The presence of the Yadav family added special importance to this year’s rituals.
