The distribution will be carried out in two phases. The first phase begins today and continues until December 9, which is celebrated as Telangana Talli Avatarana Day. During this phase, sarees will be distributed in rural areas. The second phase will run from March 1 to March 8, marking International Women’s Day, and sarees will be provided in urban regions.

Weavers in Sircilla have prepared nearly 55 lakh sarees for the program. Another five lakh sarees are under production and will be ready soon. The government aims to support women and boost local handloom employment through this initiative.

Officials say the program highlights the government’s commitment to empower women. The large-scale distribution is expected to benefit lakhs of families across Telangana.

In Nirmal, the Karimnagar Vigilance Unit raided Katta Balaji Rice Mill on November 11. Officials found 2,684 metric tonnes of CMR rice diverted during the 2024–25 Rabi season. The estimated value was ₹6.22 crore. In Sangareddy, teams found a shortage of 3,752.80 quintals of rice worth ₹87 lakh at Kanyaka Parameshwari Agro Industries.

Officials found another major diversion in Wanaparthy district. Two rice mills had rerouted 1,47,375 bags of rice worth ₹13.67 crore. Authorities have begun action against those involved and submitted reports to senior officials.

In Hyderabad Rural, officers stopped a DCM vehicle carrying 15 tonnes of PDS rice near Shamshabad. The stock, worth ₹5 lakh, was seized. They also fined several overloaded trucks and confiscated vehicles without valid documents. Citizens can report illegal grain transport to the toll-free number 14432.

From August 25 to 31, over nine lakh beneficiaries are expected to receive their Smart Ration Cards. Each card will include the cardholder’s photograph and details of all family members, ensuring accuracy and transparency in beneficiary records.

Alongside this, the state is also introducing Smart e-PoS (Point of Sale) machines at ration shops. These advanced devices aim to streamline the public distribution system by making transactions faster, secure, and more efficient.

Officials believe this new system will reduce irregularities in the ration distribution process while improving service delivery. With Smart Ration Cards and upgraded e-PoS technology, the Andhra Pradesh government hopes to create a more transparent and reliable framework for supplying essential commodities to millions of families.
