TDP MLA Kavya Faces Party Head Over Kavali Row

TDP MLA Kavya Krishna Reddy from Kavali met the party’s state leadership on Tuesday after being summoned over a recent controversy. The party took the incident seriously and sought a detailed explanation from her.

Kavya met TDP state president Palla Srinivasa Rao to discuss the issue and clarify her stance. The meeting followed a tense incident during the funeral of TDP senior leader and Agro Industries Development Corporation Chairman Malepati Subbannaidu on October 30.

According to sources, some of Subbannaidu’s supporters confronted the MLA at the event. They accused her of troubling the late leader earlier. The crowd shouted “Go Back” slogans, forcing Kavya Krishna Reddy to leave midway. TDP president Palla Srinivasa Rao was also present when the situation unfolded.

After complaints from local TDP members in Kavali, the leadership called Kavya to explain the situation. Following the meeting, sources said she presented her version of events and assured full cooperation with the party’s inquiry.

Haryana IPS Officer Puran Kumar Suicide Sparks Controversy

Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar died by suicide in Chandigarh on October 7. His family approved the autopsy on the ninth day after his death. Officials said the cremation will take place at 4 p.m. at the Chandigarh cremation ground.

Puran Kumar reportedly shot himself with his service pistol. He left a nine-page note accusing 15 serving and former officers of casteism and harassment. Hours later, a Haryana assistant sub-inspector died of a gunshot wound, leaving a note accusing Puran Kumar of corruption.

Haryana DGP Shatrujeet Kapur was sent on leave amid the controversy. Om Parkash Singh took additional charge as Director General of Police. Puran Kumar’s family demanded action against Kapur and former Rohtak SP Narendra Bijarniya for harassing the officer.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met the family, calling the case a tragedy. He urged Prime Minister Modi and Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini to act against the officers. Union Minister Chirag Paswan later assured the family that their demands would be addressed promptly.

“No Ambuja Cement Factory” – this slogan echoed across Peda Gantyada village in Gajuwaka, Visakhapatnam district, as hundreds of villagers, especially women and youth, staged a massive protest on Wednesday. They strongly opposed the proposed Ambuja Cement Factory, fearing it would destroy farmlands and increase pollution.

The protesters said that existing industries have already caused serious air, water, and soil pollution, affecting children’s health. Adding another cement plant, they argued, would make life unbearable. “How can we live if another polluting factory comes here?” asked angry residents. They accused the government of sacrificing people’s livelihoods for industrial expansion.

Leaders from CPM and several public organizations joined the villagers, demanding the immediate cancellation of the factory plan. The protest grew intense, forcing the police to deploy in large numbers. Locals also expressed anger at regional leaders who supported the project. Officials stated they would record public opinions and submit a report, but tension continued to grip the area.
