Badal has so far contested from Jalalabad, where he won the 2009 bypoll and the 2012 and 2017 elections but lost in 2022. Gidderbaha carries sentimental value for the Badal family, as former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal contested from this seat in earlier years.

The constituency is currently represented by Punjab Congress president Amarinder Raja Warring, who frequently contests from there. In a recent bypoll, he fielded his wife Amrita Warring, but she lost.

While the Lambi seat remains the family’s ancestral base, the final decision on contesting from Lambi in 2027 is still pending.
