The Punjab CM Mann compensation rollout began on Wednesday as the Chief Minister started distributing ₹377 crore to more than 30,000 families whose houses were damaged in the recent floods. The Punjab CM Mann compensation rollout aims to support affected households with dignity and urgency.

Bhagwant Singh Mann said he had personally witnessed the suffering during his visits to flood-hit areas. He reminded people that the state government stands firmly with every family in this hour of pain. Mann praised social and religious groups for their relief work and applauded the resilience of Punjabis who continue to rise stronger after every crisis.

The Chief Minister announced ₹1.20 lakh for each fully damaged house and confirmed that 8,056 damaged homes belong to Gurdaspur district alone. He said that the state has already released the first installment of ₹70,000 and the remaining installments will follow quickly. He added that MGNREGA will provide 90 days of employment to beneficiaries rebuilding their homes.

Mann criticized the Centre for withholding the promised ₹1,600 crore flood-relief package. He said Punjab suffered losses worth ₹13,500 crore but still contributed 150 lakh tonnes of paddy to the national pool.

He also listed major reforms in jobs, education, sports and drug-control efforts.

Kang said record rainfall and flooding from the Sutlej, Beas, and Ravi rivers had devastated the state. He highlighted the heavy loss of lives, property, and crops. The scale of destruction, he added, is beyond measure and demands quick support.

He appealed to the Prime Minister to act with compassion and keep politics aside. Kang warned that strained ties between the AAP government in Punjab and the Union Government must not affect common people.

“As a concerned citizen, I request you to extend help with an open heart. Punjab now needs maximum assistance, without discrimination or delay,” Kang wrote.

Calling Punjab the land of Gurus, saints, patriots, and warriors, he asked the Centre to stand with the state in this crisis. He urged for immediate financial aid and rehabilitation measures to rebuild lives and livelihoods.

He declared that one family member of each of the 43 persons who died in the floods will get a permanent job at Lovely Professional University.

Dr. Mittal said this initiative will support families who lost their loved ones and help them rebuild their lives. So far, 43 deaths have been reported due to the floods across Punjab. His decision is being seen as a strong humanitarian move that will give financial security to the affected households.

Local residents welcomed the announcement, saying such steps bring hope to families struggling with loss and uncertainty. Providing jobs ensures not only income but also dignity for the surviving members.

This promise from Lovely Professional University highlights the role of educational institutions in supporting society during crises. It reflects a model where private organizations step in to aid the government’s relief efforts. Families affected by the Punjab floods now see a ray of hope through this compassionate job assurance.

He said Punjab has long ensured India’s food security and economic strength, yet the state now faces its worst floods in four decades. Cheema stressed that Punjab deserves timely and fair assistance in this crisis.

He questioned the Union Government’s priorities. While relief material reached Afghanistan quickly, Punjab still waits for adequate support. “If we can help people abroad, why hesitate to help our own citizens?” he asked. Cheema demanded immediate release of relief packages, infrastructure aid, and rehabilitation support.

The minister also appealed to the public to donate to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. He promised complete transparency, assuring that every rupee will reach flood victims directly.

On GST, Cheema welcomed rate cuts, noting that AAP had demanded them earlier. He pointed out, however, that states continue to face unstable economies. Lower GST rates, he said, will further strain their revenues. Cheema urged the Centre to continue GST compensation as promised.

He concluded that Punjab needs both GST support and emergency relief. Without it, the state’s economy and flood-hit citizens will continue to suffer.
