The team is led by Dr. Amarinder Singh Malhi, an interventional radiologist and alumnus of Government Medical College, Amritsar. He said the group has psychiatrists, gynaecologists, paediatricians, dermatologists, physicians, and trained nurses. “We will reach the remotest parts of Gurdaspur, Ajnala, and Ramdas to deliver medical services,” he added.

On the ground, coordination will be managed by Dr. Rakesh Sharma, a senior surgeon from Amritsar. Camps will begin in the most affected villages, including Gaggomahal. Voice of Amritsar, a local non-profit, is supporting the effort along with Khalsa Aid and Global Sikh Foundation.

The AIIMS doctors team is carrying medicines for 1,000 patients, focusing on respiratory illnesses, diarrhoea, skin infections, gynaecological issues, and mental health support. With floodwaters receding, medical help is vital to prevent disease outbreaks. Relief workers say the biggest challenge now is reaching cut-off villages where people urgently need aid.
