Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann made the visit on Friday and met doctors treating Sanjeev Arora.

Minister Sanjeev Arora has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Mohali for the past two days. Doctors have kept him under close medical supervision. Although officials did not disclose specific medical details, sources said his condition remains stable.

During the visit, CM Mann interacted with the medical team to understand the treatment process. He also spoke with Arora’s family members and offered reassurance. Moreover, the Chief Minister directed hospital authorities to provide all necessary medical support.

Senior leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party have expressed concern over Sanjeev Arora’s health. Many party colleagues visited the hospital or contacted the family to convey their wishes. Meanwhile, several ministers and MLAs prayed for his speedy recovery.

Sanjeev Arora plays an important role in the Punjab government. He has remained active in administrative and policy matters. Therefore, his health condition has drawn attention from both political circles and the public.

Despite the situation, government work continues without disruption. Senior officials are handling departmental responsibilities in coordination with the Chief Minister’s Office. Party leaders said the administration remains fully functional.

CM Mann later spoke briefly to party workers and urged them not to speculate about the minister’s health. He emphasised that doctors are providing the best possible care. Furthermore, he expressed confidence that Sanjeev Arora will recover soon and return to his duties.

Fortis Hospital in Mohali is known for specialised medical care and advanced treatment facilities. Over the years, many senior leaders and public figures have received treatment there.

Finally, CM Mann wished Sanjeev Arora a speedy recovery. He said the government and party stand firmly with the minister and his family during this time.

SAD alleges CM Mann is preparing to give away Punjab’s river water rights to Haryana, the Shiromani Akali Dal said on Tuesday. The party warned that such a move would seriously harm Punjab’s long-term interests. Moreover, SAD accused Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of putting political survival above State rights.

Addressing a press conference, senior SAD leader Parambans Singh Romana said SAD alleges CM Mann is acting on the directions of AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. According to him, the Chief Minister avoided clearly stating that Punjab has no spare water. As a result, this silence has raised serious concerns across the State.

Furthermore, Romana said Mann’s remark on deciding water allocation before building the SYL canal exposed the government’s intent. He argued that the SYL issue stands legally closed. Therefore, any attempt to revive it would betray Punjab’s farmers and citizens.

Meanwhile, the SAD reiterated that it would not allow even a single drop of Punjab’s water to go to Haryana. Romana stressed that the Riparian Principle gives Punjab sole rights over its rivers. In contrast, he questioned why this principle applies elsewhere but not in Punjab.

Additionally, Romana criticised the Chief Minister for using religious references. He said Sikh teachings promote compassion but never surrender rights. He also recalled that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal took firm legal steps to block the SYL canal and return land to farmers.

Finally, Romana alleged that Arvind Kejriwal has long sought to divert Punjab’s water. He asserted that the SAD will strongly oppose any such attempt.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Thursday urged the Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldeep Singh Gadgaj, to allow a live telecast of his deposition on January 15. Mann said the move would ensure transparency and let the public hear his stand directly. The issue has drawn attention across Punjab and abroad, making the Mann seeks Akal Takht telecast demand significant.

In a post on social media, the Chief Minister said he has received calls from people worldwide. They want to know when he will present evidence related to the alleged misuse of golak. Mann stressed that a live telecast would help clear doubts and prevent misinformation.

Mann said he plans to depose before the Jathedar with full proof. He added that the Sikh sangat deserves complete clarity on the matter. According to him, open proceedings will strengthen trust in religious institutions.

The Chief Minister reiterated that he has no intention to politicise the issue. He said he only wants his version to reach people without distortion. Mann again urged that all news channels should broadcast the proceedings live on January 15.

The Mann seeks Akal Takht telecast appeal has sparked debate in political and religious circles. Observers say the decision on live coverage may set an important precedent for transparency in such matters.

Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Parambans Singh Romana on Tuesday accused Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of politicising the sensitive ‘saroop’ issue for political benefit. He linked the move to the growing SAD resurgence saroop politics after recent electoral gains.

Romana said the Chief Minister revived the issue after SAD performed well in the Tarn Taran bypoll and the Block Samiti and Zila Parishad elections. He claimed the timing exposed political intent.

Addressing a press conference, Romana stated that Mann had earlier accepted the Bhai Isher Singh Committee report. The report clearly concluded that no ‘saroop’ of Sri Guru Granth Sahib had been stolen.

He explained that the matter only involved the non-deposit of the required donation with the SGPC during distribution of ‘saroops’. He said the issue never involved theft or sacrilege.

Romana recalled that when SGPC staff approached the High Court, the AAP government told the court that SGPC had handled the issue. At that time, the government opposed any further intervention.

He accused the Chief Minister of changing his stand due to shifting political equations and the SAD resurgence saroop politics narrative. Romana said the government ignored directions from Sri Akal Takht, which called the issue an internal Sikh matter.

He also criticised the government for avoiding discussions on law and order and Punjab’s finances. Romana questioned the SIT’s formation and sought answers on the appointment of an accused to a key post.

Congress MLA Pargat Singh strongly criticised the ongoing CM–SGPC row and urged the Punjab government to avoid interference in religious affairs. He said the controversy had no link to sacrilege and accused the state leadership of diverting attention from real issues.

Referring to the Pargat Singh Targets CM–SGPC Row remarks, he said true sacrilege cases occurred in Bargari and Behbal Kalan. He alleged that despite claims of approving prosecution against Dera Sacha Sauda, the government failed to act decisively. He warned that politicising internal Sikh institutions harms society and the nation.

Pargat Singh also questioned recent changes in the MGNREGA framework. He challenged the Centre’s decision to raise the employment guarantee to 125 days. He said earlier governments could not ensure even 50 days of work out of the promised 100 days.

Highlighting Punjab’s record, he claimed the state provided an average of only 38 days of employment over the past three years, with just 26 days so far this year. He added that Punjab’s financial burden under MGNREGA could rise sharply if the trend continues.

Taking aim at the AAP government’s anti-drug campaign, Pargat Singh asked why a second phase was needed if the first had succeeded. He said sincere reforms need political will, not repeated announcements.

BJP will make Punjab a leading state under PM Modi, said Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini while addressing a public gathering in Ghanaur, Patiala district. BJP will make Punjab a leading state under PM Modi once the party forms the government in the 2027 Assembly elections, he asserted.

Addressing people at the grain market, Saini accused the Aam Aadmi Party government of betraying public trust. He said Punjab continues to face drug abuse, unemployment, and corruption due to failed governance and broken promises.

Saini said the BJP would replicate Haryana’s development model in Punjab. He highlighted welfare schemes such as subsidised LPG cylinders, old-age pensions, crop compensation, and the Chirayu health scheme. According to him, these initiatives have improved lives across Haryana.

Criticising AAP, he said promises of a drug-free Punjab, women’s allowances, and pensions remain unfulfilled. He claimed the government lacks accountability and shuts down after office hours, leaving people helpless.

He further said the BJP focuses on farmers, education, and healthcare. Crop compensation and health schemes, he added, work efficiently under BJP rule.

Concluding his address, Saini alleged rising corruption in Punjab. He promised that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Punjab would emerge as a top-performing state.

Former Minister Aseem Goel, former MP Preneet Kaur, and senior BJP leaders were also present.

CM Mann Cousin Criticism has added fresh discomfort for the AAP government in Punjab.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s cousin, Gian Singh Mann, has openly criticised the government over FIRs against journalists and RTI activists.
He called the action undemocratic and demanded immediate cancellation of all cases.

Gian Singh Mann said journalists only asked legitimate questions about helicopter usage.
He stated that asking questions strengthens democracy, not weakens it.
He warned that criminal cases create fear among media professionals.
He added that governments must answer questions instead of silencing voices.

The FIRs have triggered strong reactions across Punjab.
Journalists and RTI activists staged a symbolic protest in Chandigarh’s Sector 17.
Several organisations supported the protest openly.
Shiromani Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal also joined the demonstration.

In a social media post, Gian Singh Mann reminded AAP of its roots.
He said social media played a key role in bringing the party to power.
He argued that suppressing journalists contradicts that journey.

The cases relate to questions raised by RTI activist Manik Goyal and media persons.
They sought clarity on helicopter movements and expenses.

The controversy has sparked a wider debate on press freedom in Punjab.
Political pressure on the state government continues to grow.

Amritsar, January 2, 2026: Giani Harpreet Singh, President of Akali Dal Punar Surjit, on Thursday renewed his demand that Sukhbir Badal step down as President of the Shiromani Akali Dal. According to him, leadership change is crucial to restore Panthic unity.

While addressing party workers in Amritsar, Giani Harpreet Singh announced his readiness to resign from his own position. He said he will step down immediately if Sukhbir Badal quits the party presidency. Through this offer, he aimed to show political responsibility.

At present, internal divisions continue to weaken the Akali Dal. As a result, public trust in Panthic leadership has suffered. Many workers now seek a clear direction and stable leadership.

Moreover, Giani Harpreet Singh said the Sukhbir Badal step down move can open space for dialogue among Akali factions. In his view, unity demands sacrifice from senior leaders. Without accountability, he added, reconciliation remains impossible.

Over the years, factional politics has reduced the party’s influence in Punjab. Consequently, core Panthic issues have taken a back seat. Sikh institutions and values, he said, need focused leadership rather than internal rivalry.

Meanwhile, he appealed to leaders of all Akali Dal groups to come forward for talks. Through honest discussion, he believes old differences can be resolved. He stressed that unity must come before personal ambition.

Political observers see the statement as a significant development. Therefore, it may revive discussions on leadership reform within the Akali Dal. Some analysts also expect pressure to mount on senior leaders to respond.

So far, the Shiromani Akali Dal leadership has not issued any reaction. In the coming days, the situation may clarify whether this demand leads to unity or further debate.
