Punjab continues to face severe transport disruption as the strike by Punjab Roadways, PUNBUS and PRTC contract workers entered its fifth day on Tuesday. With nearly 1,600 government buses parked across depots, public movement has been heavily affected, forcing commuters to rely on private vehicles or expensive alternatives.

Despite a formal meeting between union representatives and the state government, no agreement has been reached yet, and workers remain firm on their demands.

The union alleges that during a gate rally on November 28, several leaders and workers were detained by the police. In protest, they launched an indefinite strike, seeking improvements in the kilometre scheme and the release of detained members.

Union leaders have warned that the strike will continue until the government meets their demands. Meanwhile, passengers across Punjab continue to suffer due to long waits, overcrowding, and lack of public transport options.
