The festival started at Brahma Sarovar, where saints and scholars gathered for the sacred Gita Mahapoojan. The sound of conch shells and Vedic mantras created a serene yet powerful atmosphere. The celebration will continue at the Sarovar until December 5.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined Ministers Anil Vij and Krishan Kumar Bedi at the opening. They offered the final oblations in the Gita Yajna along with Gita scholar Swami Gyananand Maharaj, MP Naveen Jindal, and former minister Subhash Sudha. Their presence strengthened the spiritual enthusiasm around the event.

At Purushottampura Bagh, guests received a warm and traditional welcome. Folk artists from several states performed in colourful attire. As a result, the entire area turned into a vibrant cultural arena. Leaders such as Bharat Bhushan Bharti, Dhuman Singh, Tejinder Singh Goldy, and Upender Singhal greeted visitors with devotion.

Rajnath Singh said that Kurukshetra stands as a rare blend of spirituality, culture, and wisdom. He also reminded people that Lord Krishna delivered the message of Karma Yoga on this very land. According to him, this message continues to guide humanity today. Anil Vij added that the Gita provides both philosophical insight and practical direction, so people across the world respect it deeply.

The festival has expanded steadily over the past nine years. Moreover, it reached countries like Mauritius, London, Canada, Australia, and Sri Lanka. This year, Madhya Pradesh joined as the partner state, which further enriches the cultural exchange.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to former President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam on his birth anniversary, highlighting his life as an example of hard work and perseverance. He described Kalam as a “Rashtra Ratna” before he became “Rashtrapati” and said his legacy will continue to inspire the nation.

Kalam, born in a poor family in Rameswaram, sold newspapers to support his family. He later became a leading aerospace scientist and the 11th President of India. Known as the “Missile Man of India,” he contributed significantly to India’s missile and nuclear programs, including the 1998 Pokhran-II nuclear tests.

PM Modi shared a video tribute on X, calling Kalam a visionary who inspired young minds to dream big. Union Home Minister Amit Shah praised his contributions to science, defence, and technological innovations. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described him as a true patriot and an inspirational leader who empowered the youth and strengthened India’s self-reliance.

Other leaders, including Jammu and Kashmir Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, also paid homage. The leaders exchanged warm greetings and planted a sapling before starting bilateral talks. Earlier, President Ukhnaa paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the gesture as a tribute to a “peace-loving and harmonious world.”

President Ukhnaa arrived in New Delhi on Monday for a four-day State Visit. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol received him at the airport, where he was accorded a Guard of Honour and a ceremonial welcome. This marks Ukhnaa’s first visit to India since assuming office.

During the visit, President Droupadi Murmu will host a banquet for the Mongolian President. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are expected to call on him. The visit will provide a platform to review bilateral relations and strengthen strategic cooperation.

Diplomatic ties between India and Mongolia began in 1955. Over seven decades, both countries built a close partnership across defence, energy, education, healthcare, IT, and culture. The MEA stated that India and Mongolia are “Strategic Partners, Spiritual Neighbours, and Third Neighbours,” with the visit highlighting shared values and regional and global cooperation.

Tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified. Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif warned on Sunday that India could be “buried under the wreckage of its warplanes.” This came after Indian Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi said Pakistan could be erased from the world map if it continued supporting terrorism.

Asif called these statements “provocative.” He claimed India’s leaders were trying to regain credibility after Operation Sindoor in May. He mentioned a “0-6 score,” referring to unverified claims of Pakistan downing six Indian jets.

Operation Sindoor began on May 7, following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people. Indian forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The four-day conflict ended on May 10. India says it inflicted major damage to Pakistani military assets.

General Dwivedi warned that India would not show restraint in future conflicts. Air Chief Marshal AP Singh confirmed that Indian strikes damaged Pakistani aircraft, radars, command centres, and runways. He called Pakistan’s claims of Indian losses “false.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also issued a warning. He said any misadventure by Pakistan in the disputed Sir Creek region would get a “decisive response.” India is prepared to protect its sovereignty.

These exchanges highlight the rising tensions between the two neighbours. India has made it clear that any future talks will only focus on the return of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
