Former Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar updated his social media profile soon after congratulating the state’s new Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. The Nitish Kumar social media bio now describes him as “Ex-CM, Rajya Sabha MP and National President of JD(U).”

The change in the Nitish Kumar social media bio came shortly after the leadership transition in Bihar. Samrat Choudhary took oath as the new Chief Minister, marking a major political shift in the state.

Nitish Kumar earlier stepped down from the chief minister’s post after serving the state for many years. He later moved to national politics and became a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha.

After the new government formation, Kumar publicly congratulated Samrat Choudhary and wished him success in leading Bihar. Soon after that message, he updated his social media description to reflect his new political roles.

The move quickly drew attention online, and political observers began discussing the meaning behind the update.

This was his first visit to the Darbar Sahib after taking oath as a Rajya Sabha MP, and he marked the moment with deep reverence. He said he felt grateful to receive blessings from the Guru Ghar and prayed for harmony across the state and the nation.

Gupta arrived at the Golden Temple on November 21 along with his wife, Madhu Gupta, and other family members. They walked quietly through the complex and spent time inside the sanctum, where they prayed for the well-being of all Punjabis. He repeated that his spiritual visit strengthened his resolve to serve people with sincerity.

Moreover, Gupta and his wife performed sewa at the community kitchen. They cleaned utensils in the langar area and interacted with volunteers. He said sewa helps him stay grounded and reminds him of the Sikh values of equality and humility.

The visit carried emotional significance for the MP, who expressed deep respect for the Sikh faith and its teachings. As Rajinder Gupta visits Golden Temple, he emphasised unity, compassion, and collective progress.

Multiple murder accused Vijay Palande has approached a sessions court in Mumbai, seeking the removal of Ujjwal Nikam as special public prosecutor (SPP) in his ongoing case. Palande argued that Nikam’s recent position as a Rajya Sabha MP creates a conflict of interest and undermines the fairness of the trial.

Palande, convicted earlier in the high-profile murders of businessman Arunkumar Tikku and film producer Karankumar Kakkar, is already serving a life sentence. However, he continues to face trial in related cases. Nikam, one of India’s most prominent prosecutors, has represented the state in several of these matters for years.

In his petition, Palande claimed that Nikam’s dual role—serving as both an elected MP and a government-appointed special prosecutor—grants him undue influence over investigative agencies and could tilt the scales against the accused. He described the situation as a “David versus Goliath” battle, saying that the principle of natural justice requires a level playing field.

Nikam had earlier stepped down from the prosecutor’s role in April 2024 while contesting the Lok Sabha elections. After his defeat, the Maharashtra government reappointed him as SPP. However, following his subsequent election to the Rajya Sabha, Palande has once again raised objections, asserting that constitutional norms do not allow an MP to hold such a prosecutorial position.

The sessions court has admitted the plea and directed both Nikam and the state government to respond. The matter is scheduled for hearing on September 26, 2025.

Legal experts say the case could raise important questions about separation of powers and the compatibility of parliamentary duties with roles that require legal independence. While MPs are free to practice law in private capacity, acting as a state-appointed prosecutor while holding office may be challenged as a conflict of interest.
