Yadav initially claimed he was in Rajrappa for religious rituals during the trust vote. However, the EOU confronted him with mobile tower records that suggested otherwise. Surprised by the evidence, he changed his version, saying he had been unwell and had gone to Ranchi for treatment.

The case has seen multiple high-profile names questioned. Former RJD MLA Bhima Bharti, Dr. Sanjeev, and engineer Sunil have already been interrogated. Sunil, considered the main conspirator, has faced repeated questioning. Monu Kumar from Munger also appeared before the EOU and gave his statement. He allegedly booked hotels in Ranchi under his name to host legislators.

This investigation started after JDU MLA Sudhanshu Kumar filed a complaint on February 11, 2024. He alleged that several MLAs were offered inducements of ₹10–10 crore and ministerial positions to support the Grand Alliance during the trust vote. The FIR, registered at Kotwali police station in Patna, Bihar, was later transferred to the EOU due to the case’s sensitivity.
