The Telugu States Huge Debts with RBI have grown as both governments sought fresh funds for development projects, repayment of existing loans, and other financial requirements.

Andhra Pradesh secured the larger share of the borrowing, raising ₹4,600 crore through loans with different repayment periods. The state obtained funds through 8-year, 16-year, and 30-year bonds. Interest rates for these borrowings ranged from around 7.81% to 7.91%.

Telangana raised ₹2,000 crore through bonds maturing between 2033 and 2047. The repayment period for these loans ranges from about seven to twenty-one years. Interest rates on Telangana’s borrowings stood between 7.75% and 7.92%, depending on the tenure.

Officials said the funds will support ongoing infrastructure works, meet financial commitments, and help manage the states’ budgetary needs.
