The Telugu States Huge Debts with RBI have grown as both governments sought fresh funds for development projects, repayment of existing loans, and other financial requirements.

Andhra Pradesh secured the larger share of the borrowing, raising ₹4,600 crore through loans with different repayment periods. The state obtained funds through 8-year, 16-year, and 30-year bonds. Interest rates for these borrowings ranged from around 7.81% to 7.91%.

Telangana raised ₹2,000 crore through bonds maturing between 2033 and 2047. The repayment period for these loans ranges from about seven to twenty-one years. Interest rates on Telangana’s borrowings stood between 7.75% and 7.92%, depending on the tenure.

Officials said the funds will support ongoing infrastructure works, meet financial commitments, and help manage the states’ budgetary needs.

According to the SBI annual report, the situation may also weaken the rupee and affect transport, industries, and foreign investments. The bank said global uncertainty continues to create challenges for developing economies like India.

SBI Chairman C.S. Setty said India still remains in a better position than many other countries because of strong domestic demand and government investments. He added that the Reserve Bank of India is closely monitoring the situation and taking necessary steps to maintain economic stability.

However, SBI also warned that if geopolitical tensions continue for a longer period, India’s economic growth rate during the current financial year could face some impact.

Under the new RBI rules for UCB directors re-appointment, a person cannot serve continuously as a director for more than 10 years. After completing the tenure, the individual must observe a compulsory three-year cooling-off period before returning to the board.

The central bank introduced the amendment to stop misuse of existing rules and strengthen transparency in co-operative banks. The updated guidelines came into effect immediately.

The RBI believes the move will improve accountability and ensure better management practices in Urban Co-operative Banks across the country. Banking experts say the decision could help strengthen public trust in the co-operative banking sector.

The Rupee rebounds against US dollar after falling for eight consecutive trading sessions. The Indian currency gained 61 paise and traded at 96.25 in early market deals on Thursday. The Rupee rebounds against US dollar as positive market sentiment returned and buying pressure on the dollar eased.

Experts said the recovery was mainly driven by a drop in crude oil prices. Lower oil prices reduced import cost pressure on India and helped stabilize the currency. Traders also noted better performance in Asian currency markets, which supported the rupee’s movement.

Despite the recovery, analysts remain cautious. They expect continued volatility due to global uncertainty and strong dollar demand. Importers and exporters may still face fluctuations in the coming days.

The Reserve Bank of India is closely tracking currency movements to ensure stability in the forex market.

The central bank wants all lenders to strengthen their cyber security systems as digital banking threats and AI-driven frauds continue to rise. The Cyber Risks Review will help banks identify weak points in their technology systems.

RBI issued the advisory after growing concerns over advanced artificial intelligence tools that can detect software vulnerabilities faster than before. Senior officials and banking experts said cyber attacks could become a major threat to the financial sector.

Banks have been told to review internal security systems, improve monitoring, and strengthen protection against hacking and online fraud. Experts believe future banking products may need stricter security checks before launch.

The RBI also stressed that cyber resilience and stronger digital defence systems are necessary to protect customer data and maintain trust in the banking system.

The Indian rupee slipped to a historic low on Tuesday, crossing the 91 mark against the US dollar for the first time. The sharp fall reflects sustained pressure from foreign fund outflows and rising global trade uncertainty.

During early trade, the rupee touched 91.075 against the dollar, extending its losing streak. It had already weakened past its previous record of 90.83 earlier in the session. Over the last 10 trading days, the rupee has slid from the 90 level to 91, losing nearly one percent in just five sessions.

Market experts attribute the decline to continuous selling by foreign institutional investors. Heavy demand for dollars and weak risk sentiment have further strained the domestic currency. Traders say the rupee remains trapped in a negative cycle driven by capital outflows.

The pressure intensified after the rupee closed at 90.78 in the previous session, marking another record low. Last Friday, the currency had already dropped 17 paise to end at 90.49, signalling sustained weakness.

Typically, the Reserve Bank of India steps in by selling dollars to smooth sharp volatility. However, persistent global headwinds continue to challenge stability. Analysts warn that unless capital flows improve, the rupee may remain under pressure in the near term, raising concerns for import costs and inflation.

Sajjanar stated that many citizens receive messages that look like they are from the RBI or a bank. These messages claim to help recover unclaimed deposits.

Cybercrime Bank Responsibility is now a major concern in India. Recent cases show that criminals easily move money, and this raises questions about how safely banks handle customer accounts. In this case, Cybercrime Bank Responsibility becomes even more important because criminals withdrew money twice without facing any checks.

A female professor from TMBU, Bhagalpur, lost ₹47.60 lakh in an online fraud. During the investigation, police found that employees of a big private bank in Rajasthan helped the criminals. Shockingly, the fraudsters withdrew ₹33 lakh in one attempt. This discovery forced the police to look deeper into bank involvement.

Police teams are now questioning multiple employees. Officers plan to inform RBI and speak with senior officials of the private bank. The link between bank staff and criminals has made the case stronger.

Normally, banks confirm big withdrawals of ₹5 lakh or more by calling the account holder. But here, the employee only made a short call to the registered number for a few seconds and still allowed the withdrawal. The rule became a formality, and the money was released without proper confirmation. This raised serious doubts about employee cooperation in the fraud.

Indian equities are set to rebound as key factors behind their recent underperformance begin to reverse, Morgan Stanley said in a report. The firm expects front-loaded capital expenditure and GST rate cuts to drive growth in the coming quarters.

Morgan Stanley sees a 50 per cent chance that the BSE Sensex will reach 89,000 by June 2026, implying a 6 per cent upside. It said India’s growth cycle will strengthen, supported by RBI’s rate cuts and a lower cash reserve ratio (CRR).

The firm cited deregulation, liquidity infusion, and a possible India-US trade deal as major catalysts. It added that easing ties with China and GST cuts worth ₹1.5 trillion could lift investor sentiment. Analysts believe falling oil intensity in GDP and stronger exports will help cut real rates and steady inflation.

Morgan Stanley prefers domestic cyclicals such as financials, consumer discretionary, and industrials over defensives. The firm expects stronger foreign inflows and monetary easing to further boost India’s equity outlook in the near term.
