As per the policy, students must submit a service bond of ₹20 lakh and provide property surety. Parents are being asked to pledge two properties or land worth at least ₹20 lakh each.

The IMA said this has created huge financial and mental stress for families. It noted that parents from weaker economic backgrounds are the worst affected.

The association warned that these strict rules could push students to study outside Punjab. This may increase brain drain from the state.

Calling the rules “regressive and punitive,” the IMA urged the Punjab Government to cancel the Punjab MBBS admission bond policy immediately.
