Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan held a review meeting with senior officials to assess the cyclone’s impact. He received updates from district collectors of Konaseema, Krishna, Bapatla, Prakasam, Nellore, and Tirupati, where heavy rainfall and gusty winds have caused widespread damage.

Kalyan directed officials to restore electricity in areas where power lines and poles were damaged by fallen trees. He urged residents to stay indoors and move to safer shelters, stressing that even though the cyclone is weakening, heavy rains still pose risks. The Deputy CM also instructed officials to ensure proper food and shelter for people in rehabilitation centres.

He further warned of rising water levels in the Gundlakamma River in Prakasam and the Penna River in Nellore. After rainfall subsides, Kalyan emphasized immediate sanitation and clean drinking water measures to prevent post-cyclone health issues.

He also advised people to keep torches, candles, and batteries ready during possible power outages.

Amrapali and Joint Collector Naveen visited rehabilitation centres in Garaladibba and Gilakaladindi villages. They interacted with evacuees and verified facilities for women, children, and senior citizens. Naveen said 188 centres were arranged and fishermen from coastal areas were brought back safely.

Earlier, Collector DK Balaji and SP Vidyasagar Naidu inspected Kruthivennu, Bantumilli, Pedana, and Machilipatnam mandals. They alerted local officers and guided them on preventive measures to reduce damage and ensure public safety during Cyclone Montha’s impact.

Weather conditions changed drastically after 2 p.m., as skies turned cloudy and strong winds hit the coastal areas. The sea at Mypadu, Krishnapatnam, Ramayapatnam, Chennarayunipalem, and Ramatheerdham became rough with high tides. With a red alert in place, officials began relocating residents to 144 rehabilitation centres across the district to ensure safety.

To maintain communication, a special cell tower was installed at the Collectorate. Meanwhile, the Somasila reservoir neared 78 TMCft of its full capacity due to heavy inflows from Kurnool and YSR Kadapa. Officials released excess water into the Pennar river to prevent flooding in nearby villages.

District Special Officer Yuvaraj and Collector Himanshu Shukla reviewed the situation and instructed teams to remain alert. They directed forced evacuation from low-lying and coastal areas as a precautionary measure. Shukla assured that all rehabilitation centres are fully functional to face the cyclone’s impact.
