US launches deadly strikes against ISIS terrorists in Nigeria, with former President Donald Trump confirming that American forces carried out multiple air attacks targeting extremist hideouts. Trump said the strikes were ordered after reports that ISIS fighters were brutally slaughtering Christians in the region.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated that ISIS militants operating in northwest Nigeria had crossed all limits of violence. He claimed the group had been repeatedly warned to stop the attacks on innocent civilians, especially Christian communities. According to Trump, those warnings were ignored, leading to decisive military action.

Trump described the airstrikes as precise and effective. He praised the US military for executing the mission and referred to the Pentagon as the “Department of War,” underlining his hardline stance against radical Islamic terrorism. He also extended Christmas greetings while commending American forces for protecting religious freedom.

Nigeria has faced years of instability due to extremist groups like Boko Haram and ISIS-linked factions. These groups are active mainly in the northern parts of the country. The violence has displaced thousands and triggered global concern.

Recently, the United States designated Nigeria as a “country of particular concern” under its religious freedom law. The US State Department has also imposed visa restrictions on individuals linked to violence against Christian communities, signaling growing international pressure.

A Sikh lawyer of Punjab origin has created legal history in Canada by defending his religious beliefs. Prabhjot Singh Warring, from village Warring in Sri Muktsar Sahib district, won a landmark case in the Supreme Court of Canada.

Prabhjot Singh, born in Canada in 1987, recently completed his law degree. To practice law, Canadian rules required an oath of allegiance to King Charles. He refused to take the oath, citing his faith. He said he follows Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and cannot place anyone above his Guru.

He challenged the rule in a lower court, but the court rejected his plea in 2023. Prabhjot Singh then approached the Supreme Court of Canada. He argued that the oath violated his religious freedom and personal rights.

The Supreme Court accepted his arguments and delivered a historic ruling. The court amended a law in force since 1912. It ruled that no individual can be forced to swear allegiance to the King for any office or profession.

The verdict has sparked nationwide debate in Canada. It has also brought pride and joy to his native village. Residents said Prabhjot Singh upheld Sikh values with courage. They praised him for bringing global recognition to Punjab and the Sikh community.

The Supreme Court on Tuesday upheld the Indian Army’s decision to dismiss former lieutenant Samuel Kamalesan, who refused to enter the sanctum sanctorum of a gurdwara to perform a puja, citing his monotheistic Christian beliefs. A bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant criticised the officer’s conduct, calling him a “cantankerous man” and a “misfit for the Army,” and stressed that such defiance amounted to gross indiscipline. The court observed that Kamalesan failed to respect the religious sentiments of his Sikh colleagues, an essential expectation in a diverse, unified military environment.

Rejecting Kamalesan’s argument that his religious freedom protected his refusal, the court said that personal interpretations of faith cannot override military discipline. Justice Joymala Bagchi remarked that a soldier in uniform cannot insist on private religious boundaries while serving in a secular and disciplined force.

Kamalesan’s counsel argued that the Army overreacted to a “single infraction” and that the officer had always participated in other interfaith activities. However, the court held that refusal to follow a lawful command directly impacts unit cohesion. Earlier, the Delhi High Court had also upheld his dismissal, noting that he placed his religion above military orders—an act deemed incompatible with Army discipline.
