Pandey joined the Prashant Kishor-led Jan Suraj Party ahead of the Bihar polls. He contested the election from the Kargahar constituency. However, he suffered a heavy defeat and failed to make an impact at the ballot box.

In his statement, Pandey said he entered politics as a responsible citizen who wanted to contribute to democracy. He added that he worked with full honesty and dedication during the campaign. Despite the loss, he said he carries no regrets about his political journey.

The singer explained that serving people while being tied to a political party has become difficult for him. He believes he can do more meaningful work outside formal politics.

Pandey now plans to focus on music and social service, the fields that gave him recognition and public support. Political observers see his exit as another challenge for the Jan Suraj Party, which struggled in the elections. Supporters are now waiting to see what role Pandey chooses next.
