Police said a truck carrying gypsum from Ahlanabad in Haryana to Varanasi rammed into another truck ahead. The leading truck applied sudden brakes due to poor visibility caused by dense fog. As a result, the following truck crashed with force. Soon after the impact, the truck driver burnt alive when the vehicle caught fire.

The gypsum-loaded truck went up in flames within minutes. Fire spread rapidly to the cabin, trapping the driver inside. He failed to escape and died on the spot. Passersby alerted the police and fire brigade immediately.

Three fire tenders rushed to the scene and battled the blaze for nearly an hour. However, the cabin had already been completely gutted. Firefighting operations and the accident disrupted traffic on the busy highway for several hours.

After extinguishing the fire, police recovered the charred body from the cabin. Another truck driver identified the deceased as Jaskirat Singh alias Lovely, a resident of Sirsa in Haryana.

Police later used a crane to remove the burnt truck and restore traffic. Authorities sent the body for postmortem examination and advised drivers to exercise caution during foggy conditions.
