Bihar AQI Today has become a major concern as cold weather and thick fog pushed pollution levels sharply upward. On Wednesday morning, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Patna touched 335, placing the city in the very poor category. Bihar AQI Today also showed Patna recording a higher pollution level than Delhi, which makes the situation even more worrying.

The CPCB report showed that several other cities in Bihar also struggled with poor air quality. Places like Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Hajipur, Ara, Munger, Bihar Sharif, Araria, Rajgir, and Buxar recorded AQI levels above 200. Experts warn that breathing such polluted air for long hours can cause coughing, breathing issues, and other respiratory problems.

At 7 a.m., major readings included: Araria 218, Ara 217, Bhagalpur 280, Bihar Sharif 259, Gaya 221, Hajipur 214, Munger 269, Muzaffarpur 206, Patna 335, Rajgir 248, and Saharsa 185. An AQI above 300 is considered very poor and requires immediate caution.

People are advised to stay indoors during peak hours, wear masks outside, and avoid strenuous outdoor activity until conditions improve.

Kiran Bedi Delhi pollution concerns intensified as the former IPS officer urged PMO intervention while Delhi woke up to an AQI of 385, which falls in the “very poor” category. Although CAQM lifted GRAP III restrictions after a slight improvement, the air in Delhi-NCR continues to remain dangerous.

Kiran Bedi has been highlighting the pollution crisis through frequent posts on X. In her latest post, she shared a Down To Earth cartoon showing two patients suffering due to toxic air. She captioned it, “Another feed,” along with the hashtag “pollution”. The post reflects her growing frustration.

However, her concerns go well beyond online warnings. In a detailed update, she described the situation as “agonising and depressing”. She said that the AQI in her own area, Indirapuram, touched 587. Because of this, she decided not to send her child to school. She also wrote a firm email to the principal, stressing the health risks. According to her, individuals can take small steps, but the larger crisis needs urgent government attention.

Bedi also explained how the pollution has affected her personally. She recently battled a severe chest infection caused by the toxic air. She said young children, working adults, and elderly residents are all struggling every day. Her warning was blunt: “It’s like COVID. Either you’re a victim, or you are a potential victim.”

In another post, she urged the PMO to take direct charge. She said only strong action from the Centre can push the Chief Ministers of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi to act responsibly. She ended her message with a plea: “Please make Delhi healthy again.”

Delhi’s air quality has shown a slight improvement, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) measured at 370, according to the latest data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). Despite this minor improvement, the city remains in the “very poor” category, indicating severe health risks for residents, especially children, the elderly, and people with respiratory conditions.

Authorities report that PM2.5 and PM10 levels continue to be dangerously high, contributing to persistent smog across the city. Factors such as vehicular emissions, industrial activity, and dust from construction sites remain significant contributors to Delhi’s poor air quality. The seasonal weather pattern, including low wind speeds and cooler temperatures, also reduces the dispersion of pollutants.

The Delhi government has advised citizens to limit outdoor activities, wear masks when stepping out, and use air purifiers indoors if possible. Schools and public institutions are monitoring the situation closely and taking precautions to protect students and vulnerable groups.

Experts noted that the slight improvement is due to favourable wind patterns, which are helping disperse some pollutants. However, they caution that the AQI remains well above the safe limit, posing continued health risks. Pollution from neighboring states also affects Delhi’s air quality, making regional cooperation essential for effective management.

Authorities continue to implement measures such as stricter vehicular emission controls, suspension of construction during peak smog periods, and promotion of public transportation to reduce pollution. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about daily AQI readings and follow safety guidelines to minimize exposure.

The government emphasizes that both short-term interventions and long-term strategies are necessary to combat air pollution and safeguard public health in Delhi. Citizens are urged to play their part in reducing emissions and adopting eco-friendly practices.

Delhi is facing another dangerous bout of air pollution as smog levels reach severe levels, posing serious health risks for residents. The city’s air quality index (AQI) has consistently remained in the “very poor” to “severe” range, prompting some citizens to temporarily leave in search of cleaner air.

Social media user Naman Jain shared his escape from Delhi, posting an airport photograph captioned, “Byee Delhi.” He later documented his arrival in Singapore, noting the drastic AQI improvement from 400 in Delhi to 40, and continued to Sydney, appreciating the fresh air and iconic Opera House skyline.

On Sunday, Delhi’s average AQI was 385, with hotspots like Anand Vihar (412), Chandni Chowk (418), ITO (417), and Bawana (436) categorized as “severe.” Earlier in the week, readings peaked at 428, 418, and 404, highlighting the persistent threat of winter pollution.

Health experts warn that exposure to smog can cause immediate issues like coughing, eye and throat irritation, headaches, and fatigue. Long-term exposure increases the risk of respiratory diseases, asthma, heart problems, and reduced lung function. Residents are urged to take precautions, including using N95 masks, limiting outdoor activity, keeping windows closed, and using air purifiers indoors.

Winter pollution in Delhi worsens due to trapped cool air, crop residue burning in Punjab and Haryana, and higher vehicle emissions. Awareness of AQI levels and pollution sources is crucial. Simple measures like monitoring air quality, avoiding outdoor exercise, using indoor plants, and maintaining clean indoor spaces can help reduce exposure, especially for vulnerable groups like children and the elderly.

With hazardous AQI levels expected to continue, health authorities emphasize the need for vigilance and preventive measures, while some residents opt to temporarily relocate to cities with cleaner air for their well-being.
