Under the new Act, begging is now considered a serious criminal offense throughout the state. Governor approval was granted on October 15, and the Act was published in the state gazette on October 27. Law Department Secretary Gottapu Pratibha Devi issued Government Order (GO) MS No. 58 to enforce the law.
