Sikkim inter-department cricket tournament began on Sunday at the Sikkim Cricket Ground in Rangpo, marking the launch of the first edition of the event. The opening match featured teams from the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the Power Department.

Tournament Organisation and Format

The Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA), in collaboration with the Government of Sikkim, organised the tournament. A total of 28 government departments and Public Sector Undertakings are participating. Officials divided the teams into two groups to ensure balanced competition.

Moreover, organisers scheduled 42 league matches over a span of 17 days. Each team will play at least three matches in the league stage. After that, the top four teams from each group will move into the knockout rounds.

Opening Match Results

Meanwhile, the Power Department won the toss in the opening match and chose to bat first. Under the leadership of captain Bhanu Sharma, the team scored 103 runs in 20 overs. The Chief Minister’s Office team, led by Tenzing Chopel, chased the target with determination.

However, the CMO team managed 91 runs in their allotted overs. As a result, the Power Department secured a 12-run victory. Palzor Bhutia played a crucial role in the win and earned the Man of the Match award.

Aim of the Tournament

Officials said the tournament promotes fitness, teamwork, and healthy competition among government employees. Additionally, it encourages interaction between departments beyond official duties. Sports officials believe such events help build discipline and camaraderie.

Prize Money and Sponsorship

The organisers announced significant prize money to motivate teams. The tournament winners will receive ₹10 lakh. The runners-up will get ₹5 lakh. The State Bank of Sikkim is sponsoring the prize amounts.

Therefore, the Sikkim inter-department cricket tournament is expected to boost sporting culture in the state and attract strong participation throughout its duration.

Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal postponed their wedding recently. The ceremony was planned for late November but was halted after Mandhana’s father suffered a heart attack. Since then, several rumours surfaced online about the real reason behind the delay. Some reports even suggested that Palash’s behaviour caused the wedding to stop, though neither family confirmed any details.

Palash Muchhal’s family has repeatedly stated that the wedding will take place soon. However, confusion grew after a surprising social media post by Mandhana. She shared a new commercial video on her official accounts. Viewers noticed that she was not wearing a ring, and this immediately triggered fresh speculation. Many users claimed that Mandhana had ended her relationship with Palash.

A different section of fans argued that the advertisement could have been shot before the engagement. They suggested that the missing ring might not indicate any breakup. The post, however, went viral and created heavy discussion on social media platforms.

Both families have remained silent about whether the wedding will occur as planned. Fans now wait for an official statement from Mandhana or Palash to clear the ongoing rumours surrounding their relationship.

Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and inaugural winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) are reportedly in advanced discussions over a potential trade involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. Both players are valued at ₹18 crore each, and negotiations are said to be progressing rapidly ahead of IPL 2026.

However, the trade faces complications as Rajasthan Royals reportedly want South African youngster Dewald Brevis included alongside Jadeja. According to a Cricbuzz report, this additional demand has become the main roadblock in finalising the deal. Brevis joined CSK last season as an injury replacement and quickly proved his worth with impactful performances across global T20 leagues.

CSK, on the other hand, remain firm on not including any additional player, especially Brevis. The franchise believes Jadeja’s value as one of the world’s finest all-rounders is sufficient for a straight swap. Sources suggest CSK also consulted Jadeja before opening trade talks with RR.

Jadeja has been instrumental in CSK’s success, particularly his match-winning heroics in the IPL 2023 final. His balance of disciplined bowling and powerful finishing with the bat continues to make him one of the most valuable assets in world cricket.
