The India Meteorological Department has issued a big alert for people across Telangana. The department advised residents to stay cautious for the next three days. Cold weather conditions continue to intensify across the state. Moreover, temperatures keep falling steadily in many districts. As a result, winter conditions have become severe in both rural and urban areas.

According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre, single-digit temperatures were recorded in as many as 28 districts on Wednesday. In addition, five districts reported temperatures below 12 degrees Celsius. These readings indicate a sharp drop compared to seasonal averages. Therefore, people experienced harsh cold conditions during early mornings and late nights.

Sangareddy district recorded the lowest temperature in the state. Kohir mandal reported a minimum temperature of just 5.8 degrees Celsius. Apart from Sangareddy, districts like Adilabad, Asifabad, Nirmal, and Medak faced intense cold conditions. Officials confirmed that cold winds worsened the situation in these areas.

The weather department warned that cold conditions may intensify further over the next three days. Hence, people were advised to take preventive measures. The department urged citizens to avoid early morning exposure. Farmers and elderly people were asked to remain extra careful during this period.

The warning came after meteorologists reported that 12 districts may record minimum temperatures below 10°C. The key phrase Cold Wave Alert in Telangana highlights the seriousness of the situation.

Kohir in Sangareddy district recorded the lowest temperature at 7.2°C between the mornings of December 7 and 8. Many northern and central districts are also facing unusually cold conditions for this time of year.

Authorities and the Telangana State Development Planning Society urged people to take precautions. Health teams advised citizens to wear warm clothes, avoid early-morning exposure, and use heaters safely. Extra care is needed for children, elders, and people with breathing problems.

Farmers were also warned about possible frost. They were advised to protect crops in low-lying areas by using covers or sprinkler systems. District officials remained on alert to respond to emergencies if needed.

Telangana is preparing for cold wave conditions today as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for seven districts. The agency expects minimum temperatures to fall 3 to 4°C below normal over the next two days. Many areas already recorded sharp drops during early morning hours.

Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Sangareddy, Medak, and Kamareddy are under alert. IMD said fog and mist may cover these regions during morning hours. The agency expects minimum temperatures around 13°C and maximum temperatures near 31°C. Officials also reported hazy conditions at night due to falling temperatures.

A recent bulletin noted that minimum temperatures dipped nearly 5°C below normal on Friday. The Telangana Development Planning Society released new data showing 12 districts saw temperatures under 10°C between 7 and 8 December. Kohir in Sangareddy recorded 7.2°C, the lowest in the state, reflecting the intensity of the cold spell.

IMD linked the change to a trough over the southeast Bay of Bengal. The agency predicts cold wave conditions across central, east, and southern India until 12 December. Northwest and west India will also see similar conditions from 10 December, with the cold likely to persist for two days.

The Andhra Pradesh Disaster Management Authority has issued an alert about a developing low-pressure area in the South Andaman Sea. The system is expected to form later today due to upper air circulation. Officials said the low pressure may move northwest and intensify into a depression over the south-central Bay of Bengal by Monday.

The agency stated that the system may strengthen further over the next 48 hours. It is expected to move northwest and could turn into a strong cyclone over the southwest Bay of Bengal. Meteorologists are closely monitoring the development as it may influence weather patterns in several regions.

The Telangana Weather Man explained two possible scenarios for the cyclone’s path. If the storm forms between November 26 and 28, it may impact north Andhra Pradesh and eastern Telangana districts. Under this pattern, moderate rainfall is expected in Hyderabad and several parts of Telangana.

If the cyclone forms between November 28 and 30, it may intensify significantly and move toward Odisha, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. In that situation, Telangana may not get rain but could face a sharp drop in temperatures, leading to severe cold conditions across the state.

Even before recovering from the devastation caused by Cyclone Motha, another weather shock seems to await the Telugu states. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that a new low-pressure area may form over the Bay of Bengal on November 4. Weather experts warn that this system could develop near the Andaman region and intensify further.

If the low-pressure system strengthens, heavy rains and strong winds could once again batter Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Experts are closely monitoring the conditions as this could lead to another potential cyclone in the coming days.

Cyclone Motha had already caused widespread damage across several districts in both states earlier this week. Many areas are still struggling to return to normalcy as relief operations continue in affected regions.

Warangal city was left devastated after Cyclone Motha triggered relentless rainfall across the region. Heavy downpours flooded more than 45 colonies under the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation limits. Minister Konda Surekha inspected flood-hit areas in Warangal East constituency, where residents were seen stranded amid rising waters. Power supply disruptions have worsened the situation, causing drinking water shortages.

Floodwaters inundated several low-lying areas, including Hunter Road, Hanamkonda Bus Stand, Kazipet, and Warangal Railway Station. Many residents climbed rooftops seeking safety as their houses filled with water. The tri-cities of Warangal, Hanamkonda, and Kazipet have been completely submerged after continuous rainfall since Wednesday morning.

In Hanamkonda, breaches in Vaddepalli and Oora lakes caused flooding in nearby colonies such as Pragathi Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, and Vikas Nagar. Several neighborhoods, including Kapuwada and Bhadrakali Colony, suffered major property damage. District authorities declared holidays for all educational institutions in the undivided Warangal district due to the severe flooding.

Officials, including Commissioner Chahat Bajpai and Collector Dr. Satya Sharada, visited affected areas to assess the damage. Warangal West MLA Naini Rajender Reddy also toured flood-hit regions and urged citizens to remain cautious as rescue operations continue.

For the past two days, several districts have received moderate to heavy showers. The weather turned intense on Wednesday afternoon, as rain lashed 11 districts along with Hyderabad city until late night.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the system will remain active today as well. Within the next two hours, thunderstorm activity with lightning and gusty winds is expected in Kamareddy, Siricilla, Medak, Nizamabad, Nirmal, and Sangareddy districts. Residents in these areas have been urged to remain cautious during the storm period.

Further south, districts like Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, and Vikarabad are also likely to witness moderate to heavy showers later in the day. The IMD cautioned that intense spells of rain may lead to waterlogging in low-lying regions.

Meanwhile, Hyderabad is likely to remain dry for the next two to three hours. However, officials said that thunderstorms could develop over the city by afternoon. Commuters have been advised to plan their travel accordingly as weather conditions may deteriorate by evening.
