Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya sharply reacted, calling the foundation laying a “TMC drama.” He warned, “A BJP government is coming in Bengal. If even a single brick is laid in the name of Babar, the BJP will remove it.”

Congress leader Imran Masood also criticized the move, saying Mamata Banerjee must take strict action. He questioned why the TMC chief appeared hesitant, asserting, “I am a Muslim and I am saying this—this drama will not work. Build the mosque if you want, but don’t name it to spread hatred. Mamata ji should not play fixed games.”

Masood added that political attempts to emotionally exploit “majority strength” in selected regions could endanger Muslims living as minorities in other parts of the country. The controversy has intensified political heat in the state, with the opposition now aggressively targeting Mamata Banerjee ahead of the polls.
