BJP West Bengal poll strategy has taken clear shape ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The party has identified three priority areas. These include grassroots mobilisation, internal unity, and sustained attacks on the Trinamool Congress government.

Senior sources say coordination with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh will play a key role. The BJP plans closer engagement with the RSS at the local level. Former RSS prant in-charge Pradeep Joshi will oversee this coordination in West Bengal.

Party leaders admit lessons were learned from the 2021 Assembly elections. During that campaign, coordination gaps emerged between the BJP and RSS. Many local workers felt sidelined due to the entry of outside leaders. After the polls, large-scale political violence followed. BJP workers and supporters faced attacks, while organisational support remained limited.

RSS leaders now stress that protecting grassroots workers is a priority. They believe strong coordination can prevent repeat mistakes. Joshi earlier handled RSS responsibilities in West Bengal and Odisha. He now serves in the national media outreach team.

The BJP is also working to resolve internal factionalism. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has asked leaders to involve former state chief Dilip Ghosh actively. Party insiders say consolidation comes before mass outreach. While Trinamool Congress has launched yatras, the BJP will first strengthen its base. Wider campaigns will follow as elections near.

Cricketer Mohammed Shami and actor-turned Trinamool Congress MP Dev have been summoned for Special Intensive Revision hearings in Kolkata. The Election Commission issued notices to both public figures and their family members. The move has triggered sharp criticism from the Trinamool Congress leadership.

TMC State Vice President and spokesperson Jay Prakash Majumdar criticised the process. He said the hurried implementation of the SIR exercise reflects poor preparation. He added that such actions have damaged the Election Commission’s credibility as an impartial institution.

Reports stated that three members of Dev’s family also received hearing notices. Shami and his brother were also called for the hearing. Shami’s hearing was scheduled for Monday, January 5, but he could not attend due to a prior cricket tournament commitment. Election Commission officials confirmed that a new hearing date will be announced soon.

The date for Dev’s hearing has not yet been finalised. Dev is a three-time MP from West Bengal’s Ghatal constituency. Though born there, his family later moved to Mumbai and then Kolkata due to professional commitments.

Shami was born in Uttar Pradesh but shifted permanently to West Bengal for his cricket career. He has been a registered voter in Kolkata’s Jadavpur area for years.

Several other public figures, including poet Joy Goswami and actor Anirban Bhattacharya, have also received SIR notices. TMC has accused the Election Commission and the BJP-led Centre of harassment.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday. He shared the message through a post on social media platform X. The Prime Minister wished her good health and a long life.

In his message, Modi addressed Banerjee as “Mamata Didi.” He expressed warm regards on her birthday. The post drew attention across political circles. Leaders and supporters from different parties also shared greetings.

Official records state that Mamata Banerjee was born on January 5, 1955. She turned 71 on Monday. Banerjee continues to remain an influential figure in Indian politics. She leads the Trinamool Congress as its national chairperson.

Banerjee created history in 2011 when she became West Bengal’s first woman Chief Minister. Her victory ended the Left Front’s 34-year rule in the state. The political shift marked a major change in Bengal’s governance.

Since then, Banerjee has won multiple assembly elections. She has focused on welfare schemes, infrastructure, and state-centric policies. Her leadership style often places her at the centre of national political discussions.

The birthday greeting from the Prime Minister highlighted a moment of political courtesy. It came despite ongoing political rivalry between the BJP and the Trinamool Congress. The message received wide circulation on social media platforms.

The Bihar BJP on Saturday (September 21, 2025) launched a strong attack on Prashant Kishor. Leaders accused him of running a network of shell companies to fund his Jan Suraaj political project. They called his outfit “a startup built on fraud” and questioned the flow of huge money into the party.

BJP’s state media in-charge Danish Iqbal alleged that Kishor received more than ₹370 crore from West Bengal. He linked the money to Kishor’s earlier work for Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress during the 2021 assembly elections. Iqbal added that funds also came from Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The party claimed these transactions expose how Kishor is building his political base.

Leaders demanded that Kishor explain the source of this money. They asked why a new party needs such large funds and whether corporate or political interests are backing him. BJP leaders argued that this pattern of funding shows a deliberate attempt to influence Bihar politics with outside money.

The attack followed Kishor’s sharp comments against Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Kishor had questioned the deputy CM’s academic credentials. The BJP responded by calling Kishor’s politics “dishonest” and his financial methods “suspicious.”

The controversy has triggered a heated war of words in Bihar. Supporters of Kishor argue that the BJP is trying to divert attention from local governance issues. His Jan Suraaj team has not yet given a detailed reply but hinted that the charges are politically motivated.

Observers believe the clash may intensify as elections approach. BJP leaders see Kishor as a rising challenger with resources and ground support. On the other hand, Kishor is using the attacks to portray himself as a leader unafraid of questioning established parties.
