According to reports, the Bihar JDU President Umesh Kushwaha threat incident started when a junior engineer received a phone call from someone claiming to be the state president of the Janata Dal (United). The caller asked the engineer to help a contractor get a project and contacted him several times.

The engineer became suspicious after repeated calls. When he checked the phone number, the caller’s name appeared as Umesh Kushwaha on Truecaller. After this, he informed JD(U) state president Umesh Singh Kushwaha about the matter.

Kushwaha then filed a written complaint at the cyber police station in Patna. Police officials said they have started an investigation and asked the engineer to provide details of the calls.

Authorities suspect that someone impersonated the JD(U) leader to influence official work. Cyber police are now trying to trace the number and identify the person behind the calls.

Many leaders changed sides in recent years. However, Kushwaha stayed with Nitish Kumar. He continued to strengthen the party network across the state.
