The case is linked to an abduction and murder complaint registered under case number 337/2025. Police detained three relatives of the petitioner — Mantu Devi, Aditya Raj, and Gautam Kumar — without producing them in court. Families were not informed for four to five days, which led to legal intervention.

A criminal writ petition was filed, and the court confirmed that the detention was unlawful. Though the court considered contempt proceedings against three officers, it limited the action to a monetary penalty to prevent such misconduct in the future.

The High Court also directed the state’s Director General of Police to circulate the order across all districts. It stressed that officers must follow Supreme Court and High Court rules on arrests and detention.

This ruling serves as a strong warning to police officers across Bihar to ensure strict compliance with the law.
