]]> The BJP has become the largest party in Bihar, and its 89 MLAs will choose their new legislative party leader on Wednesday. The central leadership has sent a special team of Bihar OBC EBC SC observers to Patna. This team includes Keshav Prasad Maurya, Arjun Ram Meghwal, and Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti. The BJP wants to highlight its focus on backward and Dalit communities, so the presence of these three leaders carries a clear political message.

Keshav Prasad Maurya comes from the Maurya (Koeri) caste in Uttar Pradesh, while this caste is very influential in Bihar politics. Niranjan Jyoti represents the Nishad community, which is an EBC group in Bihar. Meghwal is a prominent Dalit leader from Rajasthan. Their visit increases the importance of Bihar OBC EBC SC observers in the leadership election.

The BJP also aims to send a signal to Uttar Pradesh voters. UP will have elections in 2027, and several Koeri and Nishad leaders play a big role there. Sending Maurya and Niranjan Jyoti to Bihar also strengthens BJP’s connection with OBC voters in UP.

In Bihar, caste balance matters in government formation. BJP may get 15–16 ministerial posts. Decisions on Deputy CMs and key ministries will depend on this new caste equation.
