Panic erupted at Mau railway junction in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday (January 6, 2026) morning after authorities received a call claiming a bomb was planted on the Kashi Express (15018 Down). The train, running from Gorakhpur to Mumbai, was immediately evacuated, and passengers were moved to a safe location.

Officials quickly deployed a joint team of local police, Government Railway Police (GRP), and Railway Protection Force (RPF). Bomb disposal squads conducted intensive checks of all coaches, while platform number one and surrounding areas were cordoned off as a precaution.

SP Elamaran G. confirmed that the police control room received the call around 9:30 a.m. “As soon as the train arrived at Mau station, passengers were safely deboarded, and each coach underwent thorough checking. So far, we have found no suspicious object,” he said.

Authorities checked a bag during the operation, but it contained nothing dangerous. “It appears to be a hoax call. Our surveillance team is working to trace its source, and we will take further action accordingly,” SP Elamaran added.

Railway and police officials emphasized that the Kashi Express would resume its journey only after completing all security checks. Meanwhile, law enforcement continued monitoring the station and surrounding areas to ensure passenger safety.

Passengers praised the quick response of police and railway staff, noting that timely evacuation and coordinated operations prevented any harm. Officials also urged the public to remain calm and report any suspicious activity promptly.

The incident highlights the importance of vigilance at busy railway stations and the swift coordination between police, GRP, and RPF to protect passengers. Investigators continue tracing the origin of the hoax call to prevent similar threats in the future.

UP Police on High Alert in border districts as unrest continues in Nepal. The Uttar Pradesh government has intensified security and issued helpline numbers to assist stranded Indian citizens. Acting on Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directions, DGP Rajiv Krishan ordered police units to remain vigilant 24×7 in all border areas. UP Police on High Alert reflects the seriousness of the situation as protests in Nepal turn violent.

Additional forces have been deployed in sensitive districts. Patrolling has been increased to ensure quick response. A special control room is now active at the Police Headquarters in Lucknow. Three helpline numbers—0522-2390257, 0522-2724010, and WhatsApp number 9454401674—will be operational round the clock.

The police social media unit is also monitoring posts related to Nepal. It has been directed to act quickly against sensitive or misleading content. Meanwhile, Nepal’s President Ram Chandra Paudel urged protesters to resolve the ‘Gen Z’ movement through dialogue after PM KP Sharma Oli’s resignation.

In recent days, violent demonstrations in Nepal claimed at least 19 lives. Protesters attacked several government buildings and set public property on fire. Authorities imposed curfews in many districts, including Dang. The Nepal Army appealed to citizens, especially the youth, to safeguard unity and cultural heritage.
