The minister also said that the state has written to the central government seeking more allocation. He explained that Telangana has requested an additional 2.38 lakh tonnes of urea to ensure uninterrupted availability for farmers. This request was made considering the sharp rise in consumption across various districts.

At present, the state has a stock of nearly 30,000 tonnes of urea. On an average, farmers are purchasing between 9,000 to 11,000 tonnes every day. With the growing requirement, officials are closely monitoring the distribution network to avoid shortages. Farmers’ associations have welcomed the announcement but are urging swift delivery.

Minister Tummala assured that the government is committed to supporting farmers. He added that timely availability of fertilizers will help sustain crop yields and prevent distress in rural areas. The fresh stock expected this week is likely to ease immediate concerns, while additional allocations from the Centre remain under consideration.

The minister expressed anger, saying that farmers should not be punished for political reasons. He assured that the state government will fight, if necessary, to guarantee continuous urea supply in Telangana.

“Even if we have to struggle with the Centre, farmers will get fertilizers on time,” he said.

He added that agriculture is the backbone of Telangana’s economy. Fertilizers play a vital role in crop protection and higher yields. Ponguleti promised firm action to prevent shortage and reiterated that the government stands strongly with farmers.
