Bihar second tiger reserve in Kaimur is moving closer to becoming a reality as the state government has sent a formal proposal to the central government. The plan aims to declare the Bihar second tiger reserve in Kaimur by upgrading the Kaimur Wildlife Sanctuary into a full tiger reserve.

The forest and environment department prepared the proposal after detailed surveys of the region. The state environment minister approved the plan before forwarding it to the National Tiger Conservation Authority for review.

If the Centre clears the proposal, Kaimur will become Bihar’s second tiger reserve after the Valmiki Tiger Reserve. Officials believe this step will strengthen tiger protection and improve biodiversity in southern Bihar.

Under the plan, around 450 square kilometres will be marked as the core area. Human activity will remain strictly restricted in this zone. Another 1,050 square kilometres will serve as a buffer zone. This area includes villages, temples, and historical sites such as Shergarh Fort.

Forest officials say the reserve has suitable forest cover and prey animals for tigers. Once approval arrives, preparations for tiger conservation and possible relocation will begin. Wildlife experts see this move as a major boost to conservation efforts in Bihar.

Siberian birds reach VTR in Bihar after completing an incredible journey of nearly 20,000 kilometres. With their arrival, Valmiki Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran has turned into a lively winter habitat. Siberian birds reach VTR in Bihar every year as temperatures drop in their native regions, making the reserve a seasonal home for them.

Large flocks of migratory birds can now be seen near wetlands, grasslands, and along the Gandak River inside the reserve. Their presence has added colour, sound, and energy to the forest landscape. Tourists visiting VTR are enjoying birdwatching along with wildlife safaris, making the winter season more attractive.

Forest officials say VTR provides ideal conditions for these birds. Clean water sources, rich food availability, and strict protection help them stay safely for several months. The birds usually arrive in December and remain until March or early April before returning to colder regions.

Officials have also increased monitoring to protect the birds from disturbance and illegal hunting. Awareness programs among local communities have played an important role in conservation.

The arrival of Siberian birds highlights the ecological importance of Valmiki Tiger Reserve. It also strengthens Bihar’s position as a growing destination for wildlife and nature tourism during the winter months.
