During the special session of the Vidhan Sabha at Anandpur Sahib, he moved a resolution to grant holy city status to Amritsar, Anandpur Sahib, and Talwandi Sabo. The decision marks a significant cultural step, and Punjab Declares Three Holy Cities has already become a major talking point across the state.

Mann said the three cities hold deep spiritual value for Punjabis. The resolution seeks a complete ban on the sale and consumption of liquor, meat, and tobacco in these sacred zones. The Chief Minister added that the goal is to preserve the purity, heritage, and spiritual character of these historic towns.

The resolution also includes a plan to create a Sarv Dharam Committee in each city. These interfaith groups will include representatives from all religions and will guide the development of the towns in a respectful and inclusive manner.

Mann announced that the state will allocate dedicated funds for the revival and beautification of all three places. He also urged the Centre to support this initiative with financial assistance. After the Chief Minister’s speech, members of the House began a detailed discussion on the proposal.

Punjab to hold first-ever mock assembly session on Constitution Day. Punjab to hold first-ever mock assembly session for students across all constituencies. This unique initiative will give students real exposure to how the Assembly works.

Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan said the event will take place on November 26, 2025. Students from all 117 constituencies reached the Vidhan Sabha earlier today. They attended rehearsal sessions and received basic training. Additionally, the programme aims to build political awareness among young learners.

Only Class 11 and 12 students from government schools are taking part. Meanwhile, each student will represent an MLA or Minister from their area. This setup will help them understand debates, questions, and decision-making inside the House.

A student from the Chief Minister’s constituency will act as the CM. Similarly, a student from the Speaker’s constituency will serve as Speaker. Vidhan Sabha Secretary Ram Lok Khatana trained the participants. He guided them on how to ask questions and join discussions.

Teachers and coordinators accompanied the students. For many, it was their first visit to Chandigarh. They thanked the government for giving them this rare opportunity.

MLAs Mohammad Jamil Ur Rahman, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Balkar Sidhu, and Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh attended the rehearsal. Finally, the roles were assigned: Harkamaldeep Singh as Chief Minister, Jagmander Singh as Speaker, and Harpreet Singh as Leader of Opposition.
