With assembly elections approaching, officials want to ensure that only genuine voters remain on the rolls. Those who receive notices must provide proof of citizenship and identity. If they fail, their names will not appear in the final list, and they will lose their right to vote in the upcoming elections.

Earlier, during the same revision drive, the Election Commission had deleted around 65 lakh names across Bihar. These included voters who were deceased, duplicates, or had shifted to other places.

According to Election Department officials, the current scrutiny mainly affects Bihar’s border districts, where many doubtful entries have been identified. Notices have already been issued in several areas, and more are expected soon.

Authorities stress that the cleanup of the Bihar voter list is vital to maintain accuracy and transparency. By removing nearly 3 lakh names from the Bihar voter list, the Commission aims to ensure free and fair elections in the state.
