Political parties in Telangana have gone on alert over the SIR Voter List Revision process. Leaders fear that changes in the voter list could influence future elections. Because of this concern, parties have started appointing Booth Level Agents (BLAs) to monitor the process closely.

The SIR Voter List Revision allows parties to appoint BLAs who work with Booth Level Officers (BLOs). These agents help verify voter details such as new registrations, deleted names, migration, or deaths. By doing this, parties aim to prevent mistakes in the electoral roll and ensure accurate voter records.

Major parties such as Congress and BRS have already submitted many BLA names to election officials. However, several constituencies still have pending appointments.

Urban areas, especially Greater Hyderabad, face a challenge in finding suitable agents. Residents in gated communities often hesitate to take up the role or share voter details.

Political leaders say careful monitoring at the booth level will be crucial as the voter list revision continues across the state.

The Election Commission voter list revision will soon begin its third phase across 17 states and several Union Territories. The Election Commission plans this exercise to clean and update electoral rolls before future elections.

Under the Election Commission voter list revision, officials will verify voter details through door-to-door checks and data verification. The aim is to remove duplicate entries, delete names of deceased voters, and add newly eligible citizens to the voter list.

Earlier phases of the Special Intensive Revision already covered several states. During the previous phase, authorities removed millions of incorrect or duplicate entries after detailed verification to improve the accuracy of electoral rolls.

The upcoming phase will cover a large number of voters in the remaining states and Union Territories. Officials say the large-scale revision will help maintain an accurate voter database and strengthen the election process across the country.

The Election Commission will also allow citizens to apply for corrections, transfers, or new registrations during the revision process.

The Gujarat SIR Employee Death case highlights the growing stress frontline workers face in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.

On Friday, 45-year-old Ushaben Solanki collapsed while checking voter forms at Pratap Vidyalaya in Sayajiganj. She assisted BLO Vaishaliben Patel during the ongoing SIR exercise. Staff members rushed to help. They first took her to a nearby clinic and later shifted her to Sayaji Hospital in a 108 ambulance. Doctors tried to save her, but she did not survive.

Ushaben worked at Gorwa ITI and joined the SIR team temporarily. Many employees say the workload keeps rising. They struggle with long hours, rising stress, and limited support.

Her death came a day after a BLO in Gir Somnath district died by suicide. His note mentioned emotional exhaustion due to SIR duties. The back-to-back tragedies sparked anger and fear among workers.

Family members reached the hospital in shock. Colleagues gathered and demanded safety measures, medical assistance, and fair workload policies. Political leaders and unions also called for urgent government action.

Officials have not issued a detailed response yet. Employees want immediate reforms to protect lives and prevent more tragedies.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed that the 2003 rolls be compared with current data under SIR-1.1.2026.

On Monday, electoral registration officers sent letters to schools, colleges, and government departments. These letters instructed them to relieve Booth-Level Officers (BLOs) and Supervisory Officers on September 16–17. The officers will verify voter records and check constituency-level lists.

Senior officers said the work involves field checks and timely reporting. Constituencies created after 2003 need fresh data since they were not part of earlier rolls. Officials stressed that the task must be completed quickly to ensure readiness.

District teams have already begun comparing records and compiling the information. Once complete, they will forward the updated rolls to the state election office.

Even though the CEO’s office labeled earlier reports as speculative, ground-level action shows Punjab is moving in step with states like Bihar. The revision aims to create accurate voter rolls and ensure smooth elections in the coming years.

The *Election Commission (EC)* has released updated voter data ahead of the upcoming *local body elections* in Telangana, highlighting a significant demographic shift in rural areas. According to the figures, the state’s rural population stands at *1.95 crore, with **1,67,03,168 registered voters* spread across *5,763 MPTC constituencies*.

Among these, *women voters dominate the rolls with 85,35,935 names, compared to **81,66,732 male voters. This shows that women outnumber men by more than **4 lakh voters*, a factor that could play a crucial role in shaping the electoral outcome.

Officials note that the higher female participation reflects increasing awareness and empowerment among rural women, who are expected to influence local governance significantly. Political parties are likely to adjust their strategies accordingly, with a greater focus on welfare schemes, self-help groups, and women-centric development programs to attract this decisive voter segment.

He made it clear that tickets will not come from rounds in Patna but through hard work in their constituencies. Tejashwi Yadav repeated this point, saying only grassroots efforts will secure tickets.

In a meeting at his residence, he told weak-performing MLAs to improve without delay. He advised party leaders not to announce themselves as candidates, assuring that the final decision will be taken fairly by the leadership. He added that unity and discipline are key for the RJD to win.

Tejashwi also directed leaders to expose the failures of the present government. He said RJD must present a new vision for Bihar that creates jobs and opportunities, so that youth will not be forced to migrate. He asked leaders to carefully update voter lists and ensure that no fake or duplicate names remain. Special focus was given on reaching Dalits and backward communities.

He further attacked CM Nitish Kumar and the BJP, accusing them of misusing the current situation. The meeting ended with a push to strengthen the “Voter Rights Yatra” and expand support at the grassroots.
