The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) aims to ensure that every eligible voter remains on the electoral rolls while removing duplicate or incorrect entries.

Under the Telangana SIR Process, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification from June 25 to July 24. Voters will receive enumeration forms and must provide accurate details to keep their names on the voter list. Officials said most voters will not need additional documents unless discrepancies arise.

Election officials have already held awareness meetings with political parties and local representatives. The exercise is designed to create a clean and updated electoral database ahead of future elections.

The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31. Citizens can submit claims and objections until August 30. Authorities plan to release the final electoral roll on October 1. Officials have urged voters to cooperate with BLOs and complete the process on time.

He clarified that the Centre and the BJP have no role in conducting the process.

Speaking to the media, Ramchander Rao said similar voter verification drives had taken place many times in the past. He welcomed the decision of political parties to appoint booth agents and cooperate with the exercise. He also said the Supreme Court had already recognized the SIR process as a constitutional procedure.

BJP State President Ramchander Rao comments also targeted Congress, BRS, and AIMIM leaders. He urged them not to create politics around the voter verification process. He claimed that illegal immigrants should not be included in electoral rolls and said the BJP would closely monitor the issue.

Rao also criticized the Telangana government over paddy procurement. He alleged that farmers were facing difficulties due to a shortage of gunny bags and delays at procurement centers.

Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin expressed strong confidence about the DMK’s prospects in the 2026 assembly election. He said the party could secure at least 2.5 crore votes due to the government’s welfare initiatives. During a video conference with district secretaries, he noted that 1.86 crore people benefited directly from the schemes. Stalin added that neutral voters now view the party more positively.

The chief minister compared the current support with the 2021 election, when the DMK secured 2.09 crore votes. He said the combination of beneficiaries, committed cadres, and neutral voters would create a stronger vote base. Stalin asked party leaders to stay alert despite favourable conditions. He warned that opposition parties may use central agencies and misinformation campaigns.

He urged district functionaries to ensure that eligible voters remain on the electoral rolls. Stalin said the party faced difficulty during the special intensive revision process but must continue its efforts. He stressed the importance of verifying every booth and reaching every household.

Stalin also encouraged cadres to participate in the “My Booth, Victorious Booth” meetings. He said he would take part in the meeting at his Teynampet booth. He told party workers to ensure no eligible voter is excluded.

Bengal voter list cleanup started after the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) reported that 34 lakh Aadhaar card holders in West Bengal are dead. The agency shared this data with the Election Commission (EC) during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter rolls.

Officials also found that 13 lakh people, who never had Aadhaar cards, have passed away. The EC and UIDAI are working together to remove ghost and duplicate voters. Their goal is to make the voter list accurate and the election process transparent.

Banks are helping in this process. They are giving details of old accounts where KYC has not been updated. This helps find deceased account holders whose names still appear in voter records.

Booth Level Officers (BLOs) are visiting homes to confirm voter details. They are also collecting new forms from residents. So far, officials have distributed over 6.98 crore forms across the state.

The EC has warned strict action against anyone who fails to maintain correct records. In the future, the government will use digital voter verification and Aadhaar-linked roll tracking to build a clean and verified voter list.

In the wake of the ‘Vote Chori’ controversy, the Karnataka government has announced the formation of a special investigative team to scrutinize voter rolls in Aland constituency, officials confirmed on Sunday. The move comes amid allegations of discrepancies in the electoral rolls that could impact upcoming elections.

The special team, comprising senior officials from the state election department and local authorities, has been tasked with reviewing the voter lists, verifying entries, and identifying potential irregularities. Authorities said the investigation aims to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and restore public confidence.

The controversy erupted after local residents and political representatives raised concerns over missing names, duplicate entries, and incorrect details in the voter rolls. Complaints claimed that some eligible voters were unable to exercise their franchise, prompting political parties to demand immediate action.

“Karnataka takes electoral integrity very seriously. The special team will conduct a thorough review and recommend corrective measures to address any anomalies,” a senior state official said. The team is expected to submit its findings within a stipulated timeframe, after which the Election Commission may take further action.

Political analysts note that the Aland constituency has witnessed intense competition in previous elections, making voter roll accuracy critical. The investigation is likely to influence campaign strategies and voter outreach efforts by various parties ahead of upcoming polls.

Meanwhile, local authorities have urged citizens to verify their voter details and report any discrepancies to ensure their eligibility. Public awareness campaigns are also being intensified to prevent similar issues in other constituencies.

The Karnataka government’s swift response underscores its commitment to free, fair, and transparent elections, particularly in areas where voter roll controversies could potentially undermine the democratic process.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has demanded that Aadhaar cards be integrated with chips to ensure fair elections. He said this step will prevent fraudulent votes using fake Aadhaar IDs. Yadav emphasized that proper voter verification is crucial to protect democracy and uphold public trust.

During discussions with party leaders from Auraiya district, he stressed that a caste census will help implement reservations effectively. Yadav highlighted the PDA community—backward classes, Dalits, and minorities—as central to solving local problems through unity and strength. He recalled that PDA members’ hard work helped the SP win more MP seats in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the party finished third.

Yadav also accused the BJP government of spreading hatred in society and undermining equality, freedom, and brotherhood. He warned that conspiracies are targeting the independence of constitutional institutions, including the Election Commission.

The SP chief urged party workers to counter misinformation with facts and logic. He asked them to monitor voter lists, add supporters’ votes, and strengthen the party at the booth level. He stressed that grassroots-level organization will play a key role in upcoming elections.

Experts said Yadav’s emphasis on Aadhaar chip integration highlights concerns about election transparency. Analysts noted that secure voter identification can reduce fraud and improve confidence in democratic processes.

Yadav concluded by asserting that the SP will form the Uttar Pradesh government in 2027. He said the BJP’s days are numbered and reaffirmed his party’s commitment to empowering PDA communities and ensuring fair elections across the state.
