Telangana has many attractive tourism destinations, but several places remain neglected due to poor attention from tourism authorities. Tourist inflow usually rises between November and February every year. Visitors are complaining that basic facilities are missing in many locations. There are also objections over cottages at scenic Somashila being handed over to private operators. Several spots are reportedly ignored as the department claims it cannot manage maintenance expenses. Tourists also say cottage prices are too high under private management.

Tourists allege that special tour packages and proper transportation are not available as promised. Telangana Tourism Development Corporation earlier operated three buses from Hyderabad to Tirumala, but TTD cancelled them in November. Weekend tour packages to Srisailam, Nagarjuna Sagar and Warangal are also very limited. Officials believe day-long tour plans from Hyderabad could gain demand, but no concrete action is taken.

The Telangana Tourism Policy 2025 was announced with major goals, including ₹15,000 crore investments and 10% state revenue through tourism. The government also promised to turn Telangana into a top national tourism hub. However, ground-level implementation is yet to match the policy vision, and doubts continue over real progress.

There are also concerns that the department is inactive in promoting destinations at national and global levels. Critics say missed opportunities were seen even during the Miss World event in May. The official website and social platforms are also said to lack updated information. Experts say global promotion, marketing strategy and investor outreach must improve immediately.
