Srisailam: The Srisailam Dam continues releasing water to manage inflows from the Krishna River catchment areas . Authorities have opened all 10 gates , raising them by 10 feet, and are discharging water towards the Nagarjuna Sagar reservoir . This step is part of ongoing efforts to regulate the reservoir levels amid heavy inflows.

As of Monday, 6 AM, the inflow into the dam stood at 2,35,809 cusecs , while the outflow, including power generation through 10 units , was recorded at 3,39,496 cusecs . The current full reservoir level (FRL) at the dam is 883.50 feet.

The total water storage in the dam has reached 20,74,103 TMC (thousand million cubic feet) . Authorities continue to closely monitor the inflows and reservoir levels to ensure safe water management, prevent flooding downstream, and optimize hydroelectric power generation. Residents in downstream areas have been advised to stay alert.

Heavy inflows from upstream areas continue to reach the Srisailam reservoir, forcing authorities to lift the gates once again. On Saturday, officials raised three radial crest gates by 10 feet for the fifth time this year to release excess water.

At present, the reservoir is receiving an inflow of 2,26,192 cusecs, while the outflow stands at 1,49,104 cusecs. The full reservoir level is 885 feet, but water has already reached 883.90 feet. Power generation is currently active at both the left and right bank hydropower stations, helping manage water levels while producing electricity.

Officials confirmed that inflows from upstream areas are increasing steadily. They are monitoring the situation closely and assured that necessary measures will be taken to maintain safe levels. Authorities also appealed to people in low-lying areas to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecast heavy rains in several parts of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday and Sunday. Widespread showers are expected to further add to reservoir inflows. The department urged residents to stay alert and follow safety advisories during this period of intense rainfall.

He criticized the BBMB for its failure to manage water flow from the Bhakra and Pong dams, which led to floods that submerged vast areas of standing crops.

The MLA refuted BBMB’s claim that this year’s monsoon brought unprecedented rainfall, arguing that the board’s failure to release surplus water from the previous season worsened the disaster. “This was a foreseeable and avoidable situation,” he stated.

Rana Inder Partap Singh has called for an all-party meeting to fix accountability and create a proactive disaster management plan. “Political parties must come together to safeguard the lives and livelihoods of Punjab’s people,” he said.

He also highlighted the lack of timely flood control measures in his constituency. “Farmers are suffering, and we are still waiting for intervention,” he added. The MLA urged both state and central governments to reform the BBMB and ensure better accountability moving forward.
