Targeting the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC), Mr. Shah accused the State government of sheltering infiltrators for electoral gains. He said infiltration through Bengal’s borders has turned into a serious national security concern. According to him, the TMC government has failed to provide land to the Border Security Force for fencing despite court orders, as infiltrators serve as its vote bank.

Amit Shah slams TMC over infiltration by alleging that the State administration and police allow illegal migrants to move across the country using fake documents. He also linked corruption to governance failures, citing the recent fire at a momo factory in Anandapur near Kolkata. He claimed the incident reflected systemic corruption and questioned why the factory owners had not been arrested.

The Home Minister further accused the TMC of intimidating Matua and Namasudra communities but assured them of protection under a BJP government. Calling corruption “institutionalised,” he challenged Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to deny tickets to tainted leaders.

Mr. Shah predicted that the BJP would secure over 50% vote share and win a massive majority in the upcoming Assembly elections. He urged voters to remove the TMC and establish what he called a nationalist and patriotic government in Bengal.

The state government appointed Peeyush Pandey, a 1993-batch IPS officer, after the superannuation of outgoing DGP Rajeev Kumar on January 31. With this appointment, the government aims to ensure administrative continuity and effective law-and-order management during the pre-poll period.

The Police Commissionerates of Howrah, Bidhannagar, Barrackpore, and Chandannagar will soon get new police chiefs. Senior officials expect the changes to improve coordination and ground-level policing.

Peeyush Pandey brings long administrative experience and has held several key positions in the state police. Officials believe his leadership will strengthen preparedness as political activity intensifies ahead of the elections.
