Senior party leaders welcomed Nadda at Kolkata airport. West Bengal BJP president Shamik Bhattacharya, Union minister Sukanta Majumdar, and other state leaders received him. During his two-day visit, Nadda will hold multiple organisational meetings to strengthen booth-level coordination and campaign planning.

The BJP has deployed “pravasi karyakartas” in the state. The party is using strategies similar to those applied earlier in Bihar. Nadda will address district presidents, department conveners, and migrant workers engaged in election work.

Later in the evening, Nadda will attend a “Doctors’ Meet” organised by the party in Kolkata’s Tangra area. On Friday, he will visit the Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute. He will also inaugurate key facilities at AIIMS Kalyani in Nadia district.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah continues to lead the BJP’s election campaign. Shah has targeted the Mamata Banerjee government over corruption, governance failures, and illegal immigration. He has claimed the BJP will secure a two-thirds majority.

In the 2021 Assembly elections, the TMC won 213 seats. The BJP emerged as the main opposition with 77 seats.

Speaking to reporters in Lucknow, Akhilesh Yadav said Mamata Banerjee will win the West Bengal polls with a large margin. He accused the BJP of conspiring across states to weaken opposition governments. He added that voters will reject these tactics. According to him, the BJP will first lose West Bengal and then face defeat in Uttar Pradesh in the 2027 Assembly elections.

His remarks came days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah attacked the Trinamool Congress government in Kolkata. Shah alleged that fear and corruption defined West Bengal under Mamata Banerjee’s 14-year rule. He also accused the state government of encouraging illegal infiltration and blocking border fencing work. In response, Mamata Banerjee compared Amit Shah to “Dushasana” from the Mahabharata.

Akhilesh Yadav also targeted Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. He raised concerns over the Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. He alleged pressure on Election Commission officials and demanded transparency. He said the Election Commission must protect its credibility during the revision process.

Voters who believe their names were wrongly deleted can file claims and objections. The draft voter list can be checked online at voters.eci.gov.in or the West Bengal CEO website. Citizens can also verify details at their polling station through the Booth-Level Officer or use the ECINET mobile app with their EPIC number.

If a name is missing, voters must submit Form 6 along with Annexure IV and valid identity and address proof. For spelling errors, age mismatches, or incorrect personal details, Form 8 should be used. Applications can be submitted online, via the app, or offline through the BLO.

The claims and objections window opens on December 16 and closes on January 15, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on February 14, 2026. Draft rolls have also been released in Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep.

According to the revised schedule, BLOs are completing house-to-house verification on December 11, 2025. The draft rolls will be published on December 16, followed by a window for claims and objections until January 15, 2026. Verification and disposal of objections will continue through February 7, along with polling-station rationalisation.

The Supreme Court noted that BLOs face significant pressure due to strenuous fieldwork and emphasised the need for adequate protection. The updated electoral roll is crucial ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections.
