In Bihar, the government has decided to celebrate Mahila Rojgar Diwas on March 8 instead of International Women’s Day. The aim of Mahila Rojgar Diwas is to promote women’s employment and encourage financial independence across the state. Officials from the rural development department said the focus will shift from symbolic celebration to real job opportunities.

District headquarters will host job fairs and special programmes on the day. Women from self-help groups and small businesses will take part in these events. They will share success stories and guide others on how to start small enterprises.

Experts will provide information about government schemes that support women entrepreneurs. Officers will also offer practical advice on improving income and expanding businesses.

Bihar has formed more than 11 lakh self-help groups in recent years. These groups have helped many women earn steady incomes and support their families.

The state hopes this step will turn March 8 into a day of action and opportunity for women.

Jeevika Didis to Become Beauticians under a new proposal submitted to the Bihar government to improve women’s livelihoods. The plan focuses on skill training and direct employment for women associated with the JEEViKA self-help group network.

The proposal was presented during an industry dialogue meeting in Patna. Ladyfair Beauty Concept CEO Rishi Ranjan Kumar shared the idea with senior state officials, including Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit. He said the company wants to train Jeevika women as professional beauticians.

According to the proposal, selected women will receive one month of practical training. After completing the course, they will get job opportunities within the company. The aim is to create steady income sources for rural and semi-urban women.

The Chief Secretary asked JEEViKA officials to study the proposal in detail. He also directed them to prepare a structured plan after reviewing training quality, job security, and long-term benefits.

The meeting included several entrepreneurs from healthcare, agriculture, and waste management sectors. All proposals focused on employment generation and investment in Bihar.

If approved, this initiative could help thousands of women gain new skills and financial independence. It may also strengthen women’s participation in the growing beauty and wellness industry across the state.
