Officials said the Jeevika Didis Loan Scheme targets groups that have shown good repayment records in earlier loans. Bihar has nearly 11 lakh Jeevika women members, and each group usually includes about 12 members. With this loan support, every member may receive around ₹1 lakh on average to grow their businesses.

The state has also set a ₹16,000 crore loan target for Jeevika groups this year. Last year, these groups borrowed about ₹14,000 crore from banks. Women use the loans to start or expand businesses such as grocery shops, dairy farming, agriculture, fisheries, tea stalls, and beauty parlours.

Officials say the repayment rate of these loans is around 99%, which encourages banks to support more women entrepreneurs in rural Bihar.

Transport Minister Shrawan Kumar recently reviewed facilities at several bus depots. During his inspection, he found that food arrangements were not satisfactory. He then instructed officials to introduce Jeevika Didi Kitchens at major depots without delay.

These kitchens will operate at 19 important locations, including Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga, Ara, Chhapra, Purnea, and Munger. More depots may join the programme in the future based on demand and success.

Women from Jeevika self-help groups will run the kitchens. They will prepare fresh, home-style meals at affordable rates. The initiative will not only help travellers but also create income opportunities for rural women.

Officials believe the scheme will improve basic facilities at bus depots and make long-distance travel more comfortable. With this step, Jeevika Didi Kitchen at 19 Bus Depots is expected to set a new standard for public food services in Bihar.

During this process, members submitted several ₹500 notes to their group leader. Later, when the leader visited a bank to deposit the cash, officials identified one fake note.

As soon as the information surfaced, group members expressed shock and fear. Furthermore, members revealed that similar fake notes had appeared twice earlier. This incident marked the third occurrence, raising serious concerns. Consequently, the issue became a hot topic among SHGs in the region.

Meanwhile, bank officials advised SHG members to remain alert while collecting cash. They urged members to check notes carefully before deposits. Since SHGs operate across Telangana, officials stressed the need for vigilance to prevent financial losses.
