Wintrack, a Tamil Nadu-based company, has accused the state government of encouraging bribery in its registration offices. On X, the company shared its personal experiences, saying corruption is widespread in state-run departments.
The post followed a surprise raid by Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule at a Nagpur Sub-Registrar’s Office. Despite digitized processes, officials allegedly continued demanding bribes. During the raid, the minister found cash hidden in an official’s desk drawer, prompting a police investigation.
This comes after Wintrack announced on October 1 that it would stop all import/export operations in India. The company claimed Chennai Customs officials harassed them for 45 days, retaliating after Wintrack exposed bribery practices.
Founder Prawin Ganeshan alleged that his wife’s company paid Rs 2.1 lakh for a single shipment. He also claimed that officials suggested a “10% discount” while negotiating bribes. The Union Finance Ministry has ordered a senior-level inquiry by the Department of Revenue. They promised a fair and transparent investigation to address these serious allegations.
