The Tarn Taran Bye-Election has witnessed the rejection of six candidates’ nomination papers after scrutiny by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab. The Tarn Taran Bye-Election nominations were reviewed on October 22, 2025. As per officials, four covering candidates from major parties and two independents were disqualified for not meeting Election Commission norms.
The rejected names include Leena Sandhu (INC), Kanchanpreet Kaur (SAD), Sucha Singh (BJP), and Rajesh Walia (AAP). Two independents, Lakha Singh and Sanjeev Singh, also failed to qualify due to incomplete or invalid paperwork. Officials confirmed that October 24 will be the last day to withdraw nominations. After that, the final list of contestants for the Tarn Taran Bye-Election will be released.
The Election Commission reiterated that the process follows strict verification guidelines to ensure a fair electoral contest in Punjab.
